East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Carbonara, linguini, rigatoni, tortellini, these were all the foods Ludo had been living on the last month when he moved to Sacrosanct. He was an impeccable cook; his only downfall was his skills expanded only as far as Italian cuisine went. Staring at his refrigerator stock piled with every Italian dish you can imagine, none of it really sounded as appetizing as they had the night before to him. Reaching into his back pocket he flipped open his wallet and counted how much cash he had. "Not bad," he muttered as his eyebrows raised and lips frowned in amazement as to how much cash he had stockpiled up over the last few nights with his work. He figured he could spoil himself with a nice early dinner today as a reward for the late nights he spent hunting for his father's business. Besides, all the dishes in the fridge he stared at seemed to intimidatingly double in size before his eyes. "Grrrrr," he grabbed his stomach as it loudly groaned in hunger. "Well, I suppose I should head out," he easily convinced himself as he shut the fridge door.

He didn't necessarily know where to go so he just wandered around the streets, looking for a quiet place dine. He found himself walking close to the heart of downtown and came across a sign that read "Red on the Water". As he entered he saw the entire interior was garnished with wood and had a moderate sized bar with a few tables hidden in the back of the restaurant. Seeing that it was the type of seat-yourself place, Ludo sauntered to the back corner of the pub. Deciding he wanted a bit of isolation as he dined, he settled into the very last dining table and browsed their selection of beer. After a waitress had finally recognized him lurking in the very rear of the restaurant, she came over and asked for his drink order. It was a hard toss up for Ludo between the scotch ale or IPA. Feeling in the mood for a more hoppy beer he finally ordered the IPA and tapped his leg as he watched the waitress make her way to the bar section to fetch the drink. Scanning the pub, he peered around at the simplistic decorations. He could tell they tried to blend the old Irish pub style to fit more modern times. For him, the simplicity seemed bland, but he appreciated the chill atmosphere it had.

Sitting and waiting, he found himself recalling the past few nights and the look of each supernatural being he had killed. He always tried to distract his mind from the faces of those he murdered but, there was one man who had stared him directly in the eyes while he suffocated him to death. That image kept replaying in his brain like someone had taken a tape and hit rewind again, and again, and again. He didn't mind working for his father's company but sometimes he really wondered if he should take orders so willingly. Half of the time, it was because those on the hitlist were corrupted supernatural beings brining humans into realization of things beyond their reality. His morals were always in the right place he thought, but still, killing was killing, no matter how evil the being was. There was still the act of taking something's life and feeling any form of existence escape from their last breath underneath his bare hands that bothered Ludo. He knew his father had the best intentions though, so every time the subject droned on in his mind he pushed it aside, convincing himself that what he was doing was right in the grand scheme of things.

Hearing a soft whisper brush up against his ears amongst the atmospheric clattering of the bar and muted murmur of his own thoughts, he looked up and was met with a familiar gaze. "Turtle?" Ludo immediately questioned as he examined the deep chocolate brown eyes that peered down curiously at him. She had such an innocent look about her that made him stir in his seat. "Miya, what are you doing here?" he asked still stunned that he encountered the woman. Ludo wasn't the type to believe in trivial things such as fate bringing people together, but he couldn't help but feel some kind of luck was on his side each time their paths crossed. He watches as a genuine smile breaks across her face as she asks him what he was doing out by himself. "I could ask you the same," Ludo teasingly smirked as he noticed her usual pale face was flooded with redness from the cold outside. "The leftovers in my fridge were getting to me, so I wanted to eat something new. Are you here for a meal as well?" Ludo inquired, as he saw Miya still standing near the table.

The waitress had brought back Ludo's beer and before Miya could have a chance to decline sitting with Ludo he told the waitress that anything she'd get would be on his ticket. "My treat, since you bought last time" he added, referring to the drinks she bought for them during their first encounter. Watching as she pulled out the chair and took a seat Ludo couldn't help but admire her reddened face and the crescent eyes that stared blissfully back at him. He quickly shifted his eyes, careful not to study her too long. Seeing her in front of him he couldn't help but feel at ease. He was glad to not be alone with his thoughts any longer in the dim lit restaurant.

It wasn't just because of her pale skin, but she had seemed to brighten up the place. "You a fan of Irish food?" Ludo curiously inquired, as he assumed this wouldn't be the type of cuisine she'd normally go for. Bringing his beer to his lips, he saw her smile out of the corner of his vision. As they sat chatting, he noticed her still shivering even though she had been sitting inside for a while now. "You cold?" Ludo asked as he took off his jacket. Before she could respond, he reached out his coat to Miya and stated, "You can use it for now if you're cold. It won't bother me."
