The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Samantha Cassidy
Like the faerie girls downstairs, Samantha was positive that the reason she was called to Nadya was because she was in some sort of trouble. After all, it wasn't as though she was remarkable at her job in any aspect. She was just... Sam. She was awkward and nervous and got overwhelmed way too easily. There was no reason to keep her, nor was there any reason for Nadya to favor her the way she did. By the time she arrived in her boss' office, Sam was positively nervous. She tugged at the sleeve of her hoodie â€" a very human nervous tick â€" as she watched the woman in front of her. There was nothing about Nadya's office that seemed familiar to her. Every time she'd ever been in the room, it was always littered with toys from the twins. Without the toys and without them, it seemed remarkably hollow. "Where are th-" Samantha started, breaking off when Nadya spoke of her need to talk to the young girl. Here it was, the reason why she was in trouble. She shifted on her feet as she watched her, listening to her speak of the things that went on behind the scenes in the burlesque. She hardly could see what this had to do with her. Still, she let out a soft breath as Nadya turned her gaze on her and she couldn't help but notice that everything about Nadya was gone. Nadya always seemed to shine from the inside, but this woman was anything but.
"Micah..." Sam let out the soft gasp that fell from her lips without fully realizing it, shaking her head as she thought about how the little boy could have possibly been injured. He was always such a sweet little boy. Both of the kids were. It was hard to imagine that anyone could possibly hurt them. It made Sam ache. All she wanted to do was find the person that hurt them and rip them apart. He was just a child. A tiny, perfect child. "Nadya, I'm so sorry," Sam said. Though she wanted to close the distance between them and give the woman a hug, she stayed frozen as she watched the way she seemed to busy herself with the papers on the desk. She wanted to help somehow, but she could offer her nothing that Aiden probably hadn't. She was just a faerie. She had nothing to offer. Sure, she'd been good at keeping them safe in the many times she'd played nanny to them â€" Nadya often had the young faerie watching the children to rather keep her out of the way of the malicious fae downstairs â€" but Sam could certainly not keep the children safer than the panthers she had come to know so well.
Despite the girl's words, Samantha was still not prepared for what came next. She watched as Nadya closed the distance between them, thrusting a pile of files into her arms. "I..." Sam started, clearly overwhelmed by the question. She was the burlesque's newest employee; she was sure that she was hardly the most qualified person to do this. "I'm not sure that I... the other girls... They..." She stammered, clutching the files to her chest as if not to drop them. Her protests seemed to fall short, unsure of how to deny the woman what she was asking. Sam was certainly capable of doing all of those things, though she wasn't sure she wanted to become the boss over the other faeries. She was about to vocalize that when Nadya's face twisted into confusion and she looked at Sam in a completely different way. It wasn't until she brought up Aiden that Sam stumbled over her thoughts, nearly dropping the files in shock. She shouldn't have been surprised, really. Raven had picked up Aiden's smell instantly, and Nadya was his sister. Of course she'd recognize his smell.
"I..." Sam said sheepishly, pulling the files even tighter to her chest. She couldn't help but think of herself wrapped with Aiden. She was the girl allowed to kiss him â€" a feat she liked to take advantage of. She was his, though that was something they'd kept mostly quiet until she'd stumbled into the Ark. She was surprised, given everything, that he hadn't told his sister about it. "We've been... seeing each other..." Samantha said slowly, reaching up with one hand to tuck a piece of her hair behind her ear. She swallowed hard, not entirely convinced that the girl wouldn't attack her out of protection from her brother. It was hard to not be suspicious with the way Nadya's emotions bounced around from anger to despair to confusion to ache. And if she was having trouble controlling her shifts, who knew what would happen. "He's my boyfriend," She said the word slowly, testing it out. She was the first one she'd spoken the word to, and now that she had, Sam felt awfully exposed.
