East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

With the events that had plagued the faerie girl recently, it was sufficient to say that she was learning to despise coming to the burlesque. No, it wasn't that she hated the work, quite the opposite. She loved doing the inventory and payroll and managing the girls that were downstairs. As it had turned out, she had a knack for the technical aspects of the job. What she lacked in the ability to dance, she made up for in her management abilities. It had even been enough, really, to gain her the respect of some, but not all, of the faerie girls that worked downstairs. It had been a momentary victory, though one that had been shattered nearly instantly by her one and only visit from Frost. His words, though she desperately wanted to deny them, plagued the back of the girl's mind. Every figure made her question their intent. Every shadow made her want to crawl out of her skin. When she would walk home, she'd be so scared she could feel her heart about to burst out of her chest.

It was becoming increasingly worse as the days went by, to the point that the girl had a sense of dread in the pit of her stomach every single time she had to walk into the burlesque. It was crawling with faeries, both in employees and patrons, and which one of them would be the one to betray her? She was lucky, perhaps, for the rumor that had spread about her. It was hardly a rumor, of course, though Samantha had not confronted it other than the tiny nod she'd offered one of the faerie girls that she trusted downstairs. She was sure that was enough, however, to spread the news. Luckily, no one had protested when she'd gone up to the office and shut the door behind her. She had enough paperwork to keep herself occupied for a week or more â€" it had certainly piled up from the girl taking the weekend off. She'd been home all weekend trying to smooth relations between Dorian and Ivy, spending the time bonding with them in an attempt to make this easier.

It was a shock, then, when the door opened suddenly. Samantha jumped, immediately to her feet. Whoever it was, she wouldn't be hidden behind a desk, she could escape, she would run... and oh, it was... Nadya? The girl's frantic stance relaxed, her mind reminded of Frost's words that Nadya had nothing to do with this, that her intentions were only pure with the girl. "Nadya," Samantha found herself saying, a hint of confusion in her voice. She hadn't seen the girl since the incident at her apartment, and given the fractured state of the girl's mind, she hardly expected to. As the woman set the bottle of vodka on her desk, Samantha took a seat back in her chair, watching as the woman poured the two shots of the very, very expensive beverage. Given that she had just been doing inventory, she knew the price of that particular bottle, though if Nadya had brought it to her, she hardly felt room to protest.

It was the tone of Nadya's statement that caused Samantha to swallow. The look on her face was clear that the woman thought the woman was mad as a hatter, and if the information that she knew was what she had expected it to be, she was sure she was bound for a lecture. "Okay," Samantha said as she reached across the desk, grabbing her own shot glass. She wasn't a drinker, usually, but the anxiety that clutched at her had her downing the expensive liquid without hesitation. Placing the shot glass down once more, she looked up at the girl. "What have you heard?"
