The pounding in her head only seemed to intensify as she sits up, god she didn't even know her head could hurt so bad simply from lack of sleep! Rubbing at her temples after a moment, she's vaguely aware of Dareios taking a seat next to her on the bench, the petite Asian woman hardly minding in the least. She's still trying to chase the sleep away when Dareios speaks, her head turning towards him as she blinks, "I can't remember the last time I slept in a normal bed or got more than two hours of sleep at a time," she responds, a light laugh leaving her lips though it dies quickly. He's quick to reply to her early question, her chocolate gaze watching him tiredly. He teases her after a moment and she allows herself the smallest of simpers, the embarrassed - nervous woman from so long ago absent for the moment. "I can just see the headline, Mayor Auerbach Stalks Sleep Deprived Doctor," she laughs quietly before her gaze turns thoughtful once more, "I remember hearing about that meeting today, I was supposed to attend but they sent me home instead," she trails off. "Any good news?" She asks hopefully, though Miya had a sneaking suspicion they weren't even at the peak of the pandemic. There was nothing she could do or anyone could do for that matter for the time being, they just simply had to hang on for the ride.
Sighing, she's startled when he leans into her, bumping her shoulder with his, her head tilting to the sigh as she looks at him. Miya pauses for a brief moment before returning the gesture, a tired smile tugging at her lips. She watches him lean back to gaze at the stars, the chilly night seeping through her sweater and into her bones as she rubs at her arms absentmindedly. Feeling a weight drape around her shoulders, she glances up in surprise as Dareios wraps her in his scarf, her fingers instinctively curling in the soft material. "Oh... thank you," she says, pulling it around her like a shawl. Inhaling, she's startled by how nice it smelled, it smelled like him. Her exhausted brain manages to draw up a blush, her cheeks tinting the slightest pink as she buries her nose into the scarf, her gaze falling to the ground. She sits like that quietly for a moment as another wave of exhaustion hits her, her body slouching as she lays the back of her head against the backrest of the bench. It was perhaps a combination of things that has emotion building behind her eyes, Dareios's small act of kindness, lack of sleep, her job, the world, but as she opens her mouth to speak, the wall to her emotions broke.
She's aware of a fold limb sliding around her shoulders as she wipes at her tears, the woman hardly minding the comfort. Miya didn't even mind the chill that seeped into her from his frozen body as she continuously wipes at the wetness seeping from her eyes. After a moment, he's wrapping his other arm around her and pulling her small frame against his. She doesn't hesitate as she relaxes into the hug, her hands grabbing at the front of his shirt and fisting the material. His simple act of comfort only makes the woman cry harder as she buries her face into his chest, not minding even a little bit that a man, who was barely more than a stranger, was hugging her while she let it all out. Sobbing into Dareios, she clutches at him tighter and after awhile her fingers begin to loosen from his shirt. His apology has her feeling guilty as she finally pulls away, eyes red from emotion. Offering her own apology, she glances at his shirt vaguely noticing the way how wrinkled and wet it was from her. "Ah... I think I ruined your shirt, sorry," she mumbles, wiping away the last of her tears.
"I just... don't know what to do, Dareios," she sighs quietly, her reddened eyes trailing to the ground before she admits she was planning on calling him. His response makes her glance at him, a sheepish smile on his features before she attempts one in return, "Um, yes... I was going to call you tonight actually," she states a touch of embarrassment coloring her cheeks. She felt better after letting go of her emotions and crying it out, she imagined she would feel flustered later on but tonight, tonight she would enjoy the moment. His encouragement has her looking at him in a new light, the scary vampire not even a thought in her mind. "I hope you're right," she sighs wistfully as she takes one more look at the stars before Dareios announces she needed to get rest. Allowing a quiet laugh to escape her lips, she pushes herself into a standing position and reaches down for her messenger bag. Slinging it over her shoulder, she grips the strap loosely as she watches Dareios, "There's no cabs this late at night especially with everything going on," she sighs, glancing out towards the road, "It's only a couple of miles to my apartment from here, I probably have a half an hour or so before I can get in bed," she yawns, stifling it with her hand though the thought of walking that far made her feet ache.
