When I first recieve the text message from Kohl, I laugh and chuck my phone on the bed. He can't be serious. A masquerade party? Is that some kind of joke? Sure, I'd heard about it earlier in the week through the grape vine but I didn't entertain ideas of going. Why should I? I won't know anyone and I don't really have a penchant to. It'll probably mostly be shifters and vampires anyway. I shrug it off and go back to my research. There have been some attacks in the park over the past couple weeks that I've been looking into. Something tells me I won't get the pleasure of looking up the wolf and leopard since I don't think it was them. The bite marks and bodies drained of blood kind of rules that out so instead I've got to go look up some blood sucker. Just great. I glance back toward my phone, a slow sigh working its way out my throat. I know he'll be there. Kohl's a sucker for big parties and attention. I bet a bunch of girls will be there, probably pretty girls. I clench my jaw and go back to research but within a few more minutes, I give up with a sigh of defeat and go find something to wear. I pick out a luscious red dress that only has one shoulder strap and it falls just below my knees. The slit goes up the thigh before stopping and it shows just enough cleavage to be legal. Black high heels complete the picture. Next I head to a shop for a mask, picking out a scarlet and black one with jewels around the eyes. It'll do. I head to the party, not bothering to grab my keys since I enjoy walking anyway. The cat calls I get along the way are a little agitating but thankfully I reach the entrance before anyone ends up hurt. The body guard at the entrance seems preoccupied. I eye him as he flirts with a girl at the door. Right, way to do your job. I snort and brush past, heading into the crowd without hesitation. It doesn't take me long to pick out the girl and guy from the alley. They seem to be talking to two others who seem quite pale. Must be leeches. Suits that they would be friends. Another guy wanders up. He looks to be in his teens but something in his stance says different. Leeches...they're everywhere. I scowl but keep moving. Everywhere I look, shifters, witches, and vampires are making a move and getting to know one another. The night just gets better and better. And then I see him. He's at a bar, surprise, surprise, talking to another guy. I catch the end of his comment, something about being good at helping guys with attraction. I roll my eyes and head to his side, leaning over to put my hand on the bar behind him so that my hair falls right above his shoulder. I whisper. "Why don't you do everyone a favor and keep your mojo to yourself for tonight, hm?" I purr. A girl brushes by and I can sense the tension in the air. I tense, an automatic reaction and my lips part to warn Kohl right before her knife finds its place in the wood by his hand. My eyes narrow, my body language snarling "back off," as she turns her attention to the brooding green eyed man Kohl had been talking to. Snorting softly, I reach out to grab the dagger, pulling it free of the wood as I look over its surface with a collecter's eye. "Should treat your toys better." I murmur, knowing she'll hear. Wiping it off on my dress, I put it on the bar and slide it back to her, my eyes still giving a silent warning that she'd better watch herself. Satisfied with the message though I never truly take my attention off her, I turn to Kohl. "This is your idea of a party?" |
