Ashes to Ashes

Anna could only watch as the car which had brought them to the airport pulled away from the curb and slid down the road out of sight. She had felt safe within the car; nothing could grab her or make her do something she didn't want to. Now, however, she was out in the open being faced with something she had very little trust in. Luckily Sebastian's power made him the little vampire's source of safety now. Her attention was on the plane, expressing her distrust in the large metal object she had spent many many years avoiding. Sebastian's movement beside her made her shift; her attention following when he hooked his finger beneath her chin. She hadn't met anyone who held the same dislike for planes before. "I've never had blood ice cream." At least her thoughts weren't on being afraid of the plane anymore. Anna nodded in acceptance of his proposal, willingly taking his hand once more and allowing him to lead her to the plane.

The small vampire sent a backwards look at the crew as they passed them into the plane. Sebastian's firm grip on Anna's hand kept her from lingering though as he led her to her selected seat. She followed his lead and settled back into her seat after setting her doll in the seat beside her and fastened herself in as he had done. Anna hadn't been on a plane in such a long time that so much about them had changed. Not only were they bigger now but the interior she had never seen like this one. It was at least much roomier than they used to be and eased some of the confined issue she had. Now that she was settled in her seat as they waited for the crew to finish preparing the jet she watched the runway person out of the window as they closed everything up. Had Anna not been fractured she probably would have taken offense to the stewardess placing the crayons and coloring books in front of her. As it was though it was something to keep her occupied, not even acknowledging the woman before she picked through the colors and pages until she found one to start on.

It was only during the take-off that Anna faltered in her control, eyes wide and panicking as the plane trembled and tilted with the view outside the window of the world lifting away. "Not right, not right." She muttered over and over. Her rising panic, just like her anger, had a tendency to lead to actions of self-preservation. Such actions weren't exactly safe thousands of feet in the air. Thus, Sebastian's power eased through her system again, drawing her attention away from the window that so caused her distress to rest her icy blue gaze on him. While others had found their own ways of managing Anna's particular eccentrics, from playing along to running away, none had had the power Sebastian possessed and therefore none had been able to truly curb her to a...normal state (still fractured but at least not on a murderous spree). As the jet settled into its cruising altitude, so did Sebastian's power ease off a bit. Anna had remained watching Sebastian the entire time as his power dictated of course to be drawn to him. Now with it withdrawing she blinked as it coming out of a dream and returning to coloring.

The multitude of coloring books offered Anna the variety her ever active mind required. She flipped back and forth between them almost every page. The rising of the sun in the passing time zones they were taking meant the window flaps had been snapped shut so the light now came from the overhead and the glow through the plastic that covered the windows. It had been several hours but seeing as Anna had no idea where they were going and there were several more to go, she was reaching her limit with the singular activity of coloring. A frustrated sigh left her lips as she set the crayon down in the middle of her current page. "Where are we going? How much longer?...I'm bored." Once more her crystal blue eyes turned to Sebastian sitting across from her. "...I'm hungry." They hadn't exactly brought someone for her to feed from and the combination of bored and hungry was more dangerous than one or the other alone. At least Anna was sitting in wait for Sebastian's resolution to the problem rather than slipping off and finding her own fun and food.
