Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
There is some part of the man that remains distinctly pleased at so drawing that laugh from his roommate and further easing the woman into a state of relaxation. At least, as best as he remained capable of with words alone. Dorian remained entirely content to be the picture of politeness despite his own internal concern at this tense demeanour that seemed to exist between his lover and his companion. Neither of the pair seemed entirely at ease and yet Dorian is assured it is Samanthas distinctly obvious nervousness that seems to be unsettling Sebastian in turn. Yet too, he supposed, he could hardly fault the girl for finding herself nervous within the presence of a vampire if she had previously spent so little time with them. The truth of just such an encounter largely unknown by the Fae King as he so continues to attempt to press that comfortable conversation. Sebastian, in the least, appeared entirely aware of his efforts, the vampire so flawlessly attempting to continue that engagement with his own meticulous display of Victorian etiquette. Dorian entirely assured he loved the man all the more in that moment if only for the manner in which Sebastian so continued to place some measure of effort in seizing upon those conversational tendrils and expanding upon them. Ah, how suitable a partner Sebastian would have made within those courts of his own home! This notion that he had threatened anyone with a sword however sees that silver gaze turn readily to Samantha once more, amusement tugging softly at his features.
"We did not threaten him, we attempted to explain to him and he took offense."
That use of his nickname was hardly missed, Samantha having so promised him she would refrain from using it and yet if such familiarity brought the woman any measure of comfort he hardly found he cared for what she should call him. It is however, that plate of food that so draws his attention then. Dorian entirely assured it had sat unserved for beyond the appropriate amount of time and yet it would be distinctly out of place for him to attempt to serve Samantha's meal just as it would be for Sebastian to attempt to help himself. Both men so entirely bound by etiquette as to prevent either from reaching for it. The Fae King so evidently sharing Sebastian's own internal thoughts in that moment- his query as to just what such a dish was an attempt to draw Samantha's attention to it and indeed perhaps, prompt the woman to serve it. His efforts it seemed, were dually rewarded, the young woman reaching forward to pass Sebastian a plate before moving to had one to Dorian himself. Such a curious looking food it was. Dorian content to busy himself in that interim with inconspicuously examining his meal, affording the pair a moment to talk before so attempting to expand further upon that conversation with his own mention of but one of those foods he had shared with Sebastian. The soft snort from his lover so drawing Dorian's attention once more, that warm simper tracing his lips in response.
"The beef wellington was by far one of the most exceptional meals I have ever had in all my years. One does not forget a meal cooked like that. Nor that view that came with it. I think of it often."
He could not help the manner in which his features so softened at this admittance, his words entirely forthright and yet his mention of those fish and chips had been perhaps, little more than a conversational choice made with the distinct purpose of attempting to draw Samantha in. After all, it had seemed far more likely that his friend may too have tried this English fried food as opposed to that almost sinfully exceptional wellington. Such a dish surely not served on the streets and to just any. Dorian attempting to find something upon which all three might hold common ground even if it was something so trivial as battered fish and long cut potatoes. His own attention returns once more to his meal, Dorian effortlessly selecting the correct cutlery before beginning to cut neatly as his chicken. The Monarch, after all, was entirely used to beginning a meal first and so having others follow. He had done little more than attempt to slice that first piece of his meat however when Samantha spoke once more, Dorian's knife sliding entirely through the chicken and scarping against the plate in utter shock, the man attempting to cling to his cutlery lest he drop it entirely as his now wide silver gaze fell upon Samantha. Attention flicking between the pair in distress.
Is this not entirely what he had feared? That Samantha and Sebastian had perhaps already met and shared a night between the sheets? The very notion of such a thing hardly concerning the man in the least, the numbers Sebastian had surely had before him well known to him and out of his control to change even if he so often found himself prone to possessiveness over his lover. It is merely this very awkwardness Dorian had sought to avoid and yet.....such words hardly seem to offer any indication the pair had slept together at all. It seemed, far more likely, that Sebastian had merely fed from her at some point surely before his own arrival here. Samantha's tone almost accusing as if such a thing might have been so against her will and yet surely it hadn't been.
"You didn't like it?"
He so inquires of Samantha. The words leaving his own lips near unbidden, Dorian shocked entirely that anyone could find any sort of displeasure at Sebastian fangs before the Fae King seems to become entirely aware of the inappropriateness of his own question so uttered in those moments of blatant shock. He moves hurriedly to clear his throat, arranging himself neatly at the table once more as Sebastian so expertly moves to maneuver that conversation elsewhere. His gaze turned to his lover then, head nodded in subtle agreement with the man- truly grateful for his attempts in that moment.
"Yes, I think perhaps such conversations might be better left for another time."
A somewhat tight smile manages to find its way to his lips, the very sort of look court so demanded one be capable of summoning at any moment in some effort to brush aside those offhanded comments that had already flown tonight. He cared for Samantha, desperately so, yet those centuries of manner are entirely bred within the man. Whatever had so occurred between the pair surely prompted his own curiosity and yet here and now was hardly the time. Dorian nothing if not practical. He would ask it of both of them later and allow Samantha and Sebastian in turn to both tell him all that had occurred. This was, perhaps, the starkest of differences now between Samantha and those men seated at her table, neither man from an age in which problems were ever spoken about in any open manner and especially not over dinner. It simply was not done. The modern way of doing such things seeming far more inclined to merely voicing any opinion at any moment. The Monarch's attention returns to Samantha then, features softening slightly upon her in some effort to assuage any fears within her- oblivious to Sebastian powers seeking to do much the same. Dorian content to do what he had done for six hundred years- simply press on.
"The chicken is very nice."
