Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
He could only wonder as he headed back to the motel at what Adelaide and Townsend would do with the rest of their day. Adelaide would probably finish a good portion of that book and Townsend would go about the rest of his self appointed chores. He wondered if they would talk about him, if Townsend would continue to tell her what a bad influence he was and that she shouldn't have anything to do with him. He wondered how Adelaide would defend him. But he had to push those thoughts from his mind if he was going to get anything accomplished today. He went to the bank first after putting on a decent shirt, taking a decent thrill in cashing it. He almost wanted to reach across the counter and slapped the suspicious look right off the cashier's face as she took the check, obviously not thinking a man like him should make such money. Not wanting to carry such cash on him, he opened a checking and saving account with them while he was there, only wanting to have so much money on him. That took a little of the suspicion out of her eyes, since now she got to keep most of the cash. Once that was taken care of, he headed to the motel to take a cold shower and put on some decent clothes for apartment shopping. He checked out a few places, finally finding one he was happy with. It was even furnished so he didn't need to worry about furniture shopping, which he wasn't looking forward to anyway. It wasn't large or spacious by any means but it was decent sized and had everything he would need. He wiped that dubious look right off the landlord's face when he handed him the deposit and first month's rent all in cash right up front. That felt good. Once the landlord left, Jeff, he called himself, Taylor took a moment to sit on the couch that smelled nice and fresh and savor the moment. All in the space of two days, he'd gotten a good paying job (more than good, more like great), opened his first bank accounts, and put a deposit on a new apartment. It was much nicer than the one he used to rent from Tommy but then, he didn't have as much cash to his name then. He was proud of himself. The next few hours passed in a blur. He was so amped up about meeting Adelaide that he couldn't think about sleep. He decided to go to the store, actually buying some groceries to stock his fridge then he started cooking. He couldn't remember the last time he'd actually made something, food wise, besides a sandwich. He decided to try out one of his mom's recipes, good fried chicken. He battered it up just as he remembered her showing him, light dough then back in the eggs then back in the dough so it would be extra crispy. He loved it that way. Then he set to work frying it up. Some of the pieces ended up a little on the burnt side because he had the temperature too high and the fan had its work cut out for it trying to take in all the smoke before his smoke detector went off but for the most part, he had managed it. His eyes actually started to burn from the smoke at one point so he turned the heat down and noticed an immediate improvement, waving the smoke out the windows and laughing at the looks he got from curious neighbors. "Not burning down my apartment, just cooking some chicken!" He called out as worried neighbors got our their cells as if to call the fire department. Most of them laughed or smirked at him after that before going on to whatever they were doing, the rest shaking their heads in pity at the man who obviously can't cook. When he bit into the first burnt piece though when everything was said and done, it was worth it. So worth it. He could live off of something he had created and it was a great feeling. One he didn't remember feeling in a long time. Probably not since he finished the harley. He spent the rest of the time trying to find something on tv but it had been so long since he'd watched tv that he didn't know any of the shows and he found himself biding his time, glancing at the clock every few minutes, waiting on eleven. At ten, he got up and looked for something better to wear, throwing on some more faded jeans and a tshirt since that's pretty much all he owned. Maybe he would do some clothes shopping tomorrow. Maybe. He hated shopping for clothes. He made sure to put on some deoderant and even threw on a little cologne he had picked up on his way back from the bank. He ran a brush through his hair before grabbing his leather jacket. He hit the streets, just driving while he checked his watch every few minutes. He made sure to buy one of those too when he was shopping for an apartment. He didn't want any excuse to be late to his job, or in this case, a nice drive with a beautiful woman. He didn't know what to think of it as but he wasn't about to ruin anything by trying to label it. Was it a date? He didn't know but all he did know was that he wanted to make she was having a great time. He made it to the corner in her note around ten fifty and then he just sat there, his bike idling as he enjoyed the cool breeze and waited to see her. He felt giddy almost, like a guy before his first date with the girl he'd been crushing on since first grade. By the time she came around the corner, he was waiting with the helmet sitting in front of him, just waiting to hold it out to her so she could jump on the back. He tilted his head, giving her a mischeveous grin. "You look like you're up to no good, Miss LaBelle. Got anywhere in mind?" His eyes twinkled as he used Townsend's title for her, holding out the helmet as he shifted forward to give her plenty of room. |
