She could tell that she'd done good when she saw the smile on his face. She smirked, leaning over to nudge his shoulder. "You should smile more often. Brings out your eyes." She even poked his nose gently with her finger before coming back up on the board. She hadn't meant for him to hear her last comment but it was too late, now. She raised a brow at him when he said that she seemed pretty smart. She snorted. "Yeah right. At least you can read." She froze when he reached over to brush hair behind her ear, though, inhaling sharply. Afterward, she tried to shrug it off, looking out over the water and asking about another wave just to change the subject. He'd had his awkward moment with her feeling his hard on and now she'd had hers with an affectionate gesture. She was glad he'd already pushed her toward the wave so maybe he wouldn't see the blush on her cheeks cause usually she never did that. She tried to concentrate, and was glad he'd agreed with her about trying again. She wanted to get this right, or at least stand up on the board. In a way, she wanted to make him proud, to show him he was a good teacher. She tried to paddle more this time, wanting to keep up better with the wave. When it started picking up the back of the board, she took a deep breath and pushed herself to her feet. Before she knew it, she was squealing, turning back around to find Ashton. "Ashton, look, I did it! I'm -" The board moved out from under her and she screamed as she fell face first into the water. |
