The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
That sudden exclamation very near saw the man jump. His newfound companion evidently not a fan of eye rolling and yet, once more, that smile threatens to overtake his lips. God, it had been a long time since he'd met anyone this...uptight. She was almost too amusing for her own good. Arlo knowingly entirely well that his own often lax attitude was perhaps the polar opposite to his newfound room-mates and yet, truly, he was almost intrigued to see how this went. He demanded to know whether he had just rolled his eyes at her met with a simple shrug.
"I'm going to go with...no."
He answered softly, content to pretend for all the world as if he hadn't before he moved to play that gentlemanly role and at least offer to assist her with the boxes she had scattered about the room. He moved easily to the closet one, oblivious in that moment to exactly what it contained. Those piles of book, to a mortal creature, distinctly heavy. That warning barely free of her lips before Arlo scooped the books into his arms as if he was carrying a pillow. A soft 'hmm' so parted his lips, the man glancing at the box now, noting its contents for the first time. His mind rather slowly in coming to the realisation that to her it would have been heavy. Did she really not know what he was? Had she truly NO idea at all? Maybe he should pretend it was heavy? Yet really that was just going to look odd if he started acting as if its weight had only just afflicted him. Maybe she would just assume him an oddly strong human. He moved to place that box were directed as she asked after furniture, Arlo affording her a curious glance now. What was wrong with the furniture they had? Didn't she like it? Her answer was diplomatic, if anything. The woman claiming she wanted it to feel more 'homey'. He couldn't fault her there he supposed. The apartment wasn't exactly...welcoming and yet he so rarely ever stayed in one city that he simply never bothered with furniture or anything really save for those black leather notebooks that lined his own room and he carried everywhere. Arlo making a mental note to be sure he closed his door from now on. He hardly needed her looking in those.
"Fine with me, if that's what you want."
He offers simply enough. If she was going to be living here she had a right to some decoration didn't she? Arlo offering a grin al the same before she makes some effort to coax him into coming with her in the morning. It is the very thought of the sun incinerating him that sees his head shake. He was capable of being awake in the daylight, he'd done it before, several times and yet he was not capable of overcoming the touch of the sun. Her response was almost curt, as if put out by his desire not to come with her and yet he was rather assured him incinerating beside her would be a far more traumatic experience then his lack of accompanying her to a store. Arlo scowling slightly.
"If you go at night I'll come."
Well- it was something. Although how many furniture stores were open at night he wasn't sure. Still- there was late night shopping once a week where nothing closed till nearly ten in the evening. He was entirely capable of that. Why he was attempting to please her he hardly knew. Arlo dismissing the thought a moment later, replacing it instead with the idea of parties as Mi delicately laid some sort of old-looking blanket on the ground as if she feared the time space continuum might ravage it at any moment. She didn't seem all that sold on the idea of parties, or friends for that matter and yet really Arlo was sure she'd be almost fun with a few drinks in her. Maybe. It was that topic of friends that saw the vampire mention his own beloved pet. The word 'pet' barely free of his lips before she was yelling again. Alright. So she was extra uptight....about everything. Arlo almost worried she would actually tell the landlord and yet since his Little Bear was never here in the day he was hardly concerned about the man finding her. Beside, she didn't live here, by that notion at least he was hardly committing any crime or violation of rental contract. It said no pets. Not no animal visitors.
"No, I'm not joking, look."
He reached easily for his phone, flicking it to that pictures folder before bringing up those endless images of his pet panda. The man having dedicated quite a bit of time to photographing her, half the time without the little creature even being aware. The vampire assured the pictures were nothing short of adorable. Laughing panda, smiling panda, sassy panda....they were all here. That image of the Little Bear asleep on his chest as they lay on the couch perhaps one of his favoured ones, his phone closed a moment later as he returned it to his pocket. Mi evidently lacking the ability to find cuteness in an adorable animal as she begun a whole new tirade. This time about the trouble he was going to be in before declaring he couldn't keep it here and that it didn't belong. One eye arching slightly up, his own arms folding across his chest now as he lent laconically back against the wall.
"Oh? What do you mean by she doesn't belong?"
There was very little in this world, nothing and no one really, whom he was willing to defend and yet his Panda was perhaps the only exception. She was his only companion, his only company and he certainly wasn't about to tell her she couldn't come about anymore because his new roommate didn't think she 'belonged'. What did that even mean? That hint of amusement returned to his features once more, blue-eyes watching the woman with a newfound curiosity as she folded that blanket and tucked it under her arm.
"Are you sure college is right for you? I mean, how hasn't your head exploded from worrying just yet? It must be hard being that concerned all the time. Don't worry about Little Bear, she's fine. She only comes by at night. You'll like her when you meet her. You're not like....afraid of animals or anything are you?"
His head tilted slightly, almost inquisitive now as he regarded her still.
"Have you always been this stressed about everything?"
He could help her relax, entirely so and yet he doubted she'd take well to being bitten.
