The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I know that I may have surprised Raven by grabbing her hand and I can't help but regret even doing it at all. I don't usually initiate touching because just like Raven, I have problems with trust and touching is something that goes along with that. But since coming to Sacrosanct, Raven has become my closest friend, like a pack to me more than anyone else and I trust her completely, even with her feral mind. Somehow I know that she won't hurt me. I saw firsthand that she'd rather hurt herself than me. I knwo that she probably wants me to get closer to Isolt but it's harder to get to know someone new than the one person I know I can count on no matter what. Isolt seems nice and all but she's a completely different species from me and that's something I have to get over before I can even get to know her as a person. I'm still waiting for her fangs to suddenly pop out while she's talking or something. When I admit how I found the cafe, I duck my head sheepishly and Raven shakes her head with a chuckle. She never gets mad about the stealing thing. I guess she understands that it's all I've ever known. When she says she should oin me some time, my eyes light up at the prospect and I nod. "You should! We'll have to pick something good for our first exploit." I smirk mischeveously, liking the feeling of having someone on my side. It's still a feeling I'm getting used to. I know she doesn't sleep good in the house and I wonder sometimes if that's one of the reasons she sleeps more at the warehouse with Tobias than at the house with me. I hear her tossing and turning late at night, talking sometimes or calling out. I've had to override the urge to go comfort her, knowing that it would only be awkward and she would think I'll ask questions. I wouldn't of course because I understand what she's going through and of course she'd know that but I know that she'd rather suffer alone because its just the kind of person she is. We make our orders and I stare down at the table top while Raven finishes looking around. I can feel her gaze on me after a few minutes and so I ask about her sleeping arrangements for the night. My eyes light up instantly when she says that she doesn't have to work till later in the day tomorrow so she can stay with me the rest of today. I almost jump out of my seat in excitement but instead I just straighten up with a dazzling smile. "Great! What do you want to do? Want to go for a run? Or hunt something?" My mind is suddenly filled to the brim with great ideas. I love spending time with Raven. Now that burden's lifted off my shoulders, I feel a little more relaxed. When the waitress brings our order, I sniff shyly at my coffee and nibble at my bagel. Raven's sudden question throws me off guard. My eyes widen but I sigh softly and duck my head, my fingers playing with the rim of the coffee mug. "It's nothing really.....Are you going to mate with Tobias and leave the house?" I had blurted it out. My eyes say the rest of the question. Is she going to leave me? |
