East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

She would pay dearly for this... she always did.

This was not the demure young redhead's first "transgression" nor did she foresee it being her last. And though no portion of her amiable demeanor dictated that she should perpetrate such an outright rebellion, her actions were forced by a far more powerful hand than she could have ever hoped to resist for any extended amount of time. Hunger, it would seem, was the ultimate motivator... and so it was hunger that drove Isolt from the clutches and near-constant supervision of her captors and out onto the streets of Sacrosanct in a desperate quest for nourishment. Since her very first hour after having been pulled by latent and horrifically powerful forces back to Syn, Isolt had been subjected to the ever-growing twist of starvation's barbs about her hollow innards. The copper-haired vampire had exhausted all conceivable avenues in order to procure some shred of sustenance for herself, and yet even from the wellspring of lifeblood that was Syn not a drop had ever been spared for her. The orders of their shared matron had been clear and they had been ironclad, though her purposes for starving the progeny she had made were far less so.

It did not do for Isolt to dwell on such considerations for any length of time, for the deciphering of Risque's myriad cruelties demanded a far greater portion of her mental and physical fortitude than she had left to give. It had been a grueling two weeks since last she had tasted blood, the somewhat shady bar Damon had introduced her to having proven somewhat of an oasis in the desolation of Isolt's current existence. However, funds for the nourishment for which she quested so vehemently had recently become hard to muster, and yet the progression of her rapidly-accelerating starvation sought to bestow upon her no mercy. In a moment of the greatest weakness Isolt had reached out a quivering and proverbial hand to the only individual who might be able to aide her... who might understand what it was she required the most: Damon. She thought of him often in the drawing moments of macabre solitude that were oft forced upon her, finding even the minutest shred of strength to be had from the recollection of his kindness. He was, whether the realization had dawned upon the horizon of her mind or not, her last and greatest hope.

And so, after having put far more effort than usual into concealing the steadily darkening crescents beneath her eyes and the unusual pallor of her flesh, Isolt had sought him. The phone call had been brief, cordial and apologetic in all of the ways that he deserved given the conclusion of their previous rendezvous; and, less than an hour later, Isolt stood in the crowded depths of a local tavern. The merriment of the ambiance seemed to cast further light unto her own lack of such gaiety, though she wished for it more than most other things. A gathering of young, brawny men mulled not too terribly far from where the crimson-curled vampire lingered, clearly having sought this particular locale for an impromptu celebration of sorts. More than one amongst their ranks cast their eyes to her for a series of appreciative glances that hardly went unnoticed by the young woman; and yet one set of alluring blue eyes in particular lingered upon her, a genteel smile quirking at the edges of his presumably pleasant lips. She could do naught but offer him the slightest return before the evidence of a familiar presence behind her captured Isolt's attention. "Damon," she whispers as she turns to face him, his name almost a lament upon sorrowful lips. "I'm so glad you came... I didn't mean to bother you, but I... I didn't know who else to call."
