East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Something wicked this way comes: erik

With a jolt I come awake. I clutch at my chest as I feel the energy pouring from me, zapping the energy that I just accrued through a somewhat short night of sleep. When we arrived at Erik's house it had already been in the throes of night but after my bath, meal, and conversation it had been well past midnight. With the light streaming in through the curtains I assume it was somewhere around mid-morning which was still quite a bit of sleep but not enough to recover me completely from my months in captivity. Especially now as I feel them drawing that same energy from me, yanking on the reserves of magical power I had begun to build, draining me and trying to locate me at the same time. I close my eyes, focus inwardly, and try to yank back, to snap the thread between us but all I do is make the draining pause, as if we are at a stalemate.

The dark bruised look around my eyes has faded only minimally considering this recent tug at my magic and I feel hollowed out as I slip from the bed with a light groan. My sore muscles feel worse today. Stiff from sleeping in such a comfortable bed. There was something about sleeping in a place that you knew was safe. Darwin lifts his spotted head with a yawn, having curled near my side for the majority of the night. I think. Wasn't sure since I hadn't woken once since passing out.

I take a quick shower, prodding at the bruises on my body, grimacing at the purple one that wraps from my ribs around to my back. Not to mention the yellow one that blooms in the middle of my chest. They would heal. Slowly, as I could not craft any healing potions to make it any faster. I grit my teeth at the frustration I feel. They are looking for me actively now which meant I had better get my search on sooner rather than later. The urgency is back and I make quick work of changing into some faded skinny jeans, a fresh pair of sneakers, and a nondescript black t-shirt that clings to me in a flattering manner, despite my weight loss.

Leaving my black hair down, I brush it methodically, noting the way my silky strands curl. Unless I spent time coaxing them straight, this was their natural state, along with some frizziness. I didn't have the time today to care. My emerald eyes are more alert today though. Determined.

I slip from my room - wait, technically not MINE - and head towards the kitchen. Erik had been helpful the night before with his confidence and patience. My fingers curl into my palm as I remember the way he traced his fingers across it, sending tingles up my arm, the mischievous grin on his face that battled with his hopeful side. I wonder... in the light of morning would he think differently of me? Sleep tended to clear the cobwebs from ones mind and he had to realize I couldn't possibly be a good one to keep around with all my issues. I wasn't worried about HIM, more about Adele. My presence was putting them in harms way.

Frowning to myself and rubbing on hand absently across my chest, I peer into the kitchen, smiling as I see Adele's back. Maybe Erik was messing with me and was still sleeping, as a vampire should do in the morning time. "Good morning," I say softly to her so as not to scare her. "Would you happen to have anything I could snack on?" Sleep had left me hungry and the subsequent draining of my renewed energy had to be replaced somehow.
