![]() He couldn't help but tease the woman running with him as they darted and dodged down aisles, only to watch shelves topple around them. His lips curved in the corners as she yelled back at him that she'd done nothing to the vampire hot on their heels. He knew they couldn't keep this up forever. The vampire was graced with supernatural speed, so it was only a matter of time. His eyes darted around as they ran, wondering what he could use to push things in their favor. When he saw a cart of books, he couldn't help himself. Maybe he'd seen it in a movie somewhere but on instinct, the fae grabbed a book and chucked it at the vampire behind him. It probably only annoyed the immortal more than anything, but Kit kept up the momentum, throwing one after another at the vampire. Usually he would question the sanity of anyone willing to abuse a novel, but this called for desperate measures. The fae could only hope no one saw him almost face plant into a shelf the next minute before he found a saving grace in the form of an emergency exit door and pulled Audette toward it. They both barreled out into the alley and stopped a moment to catch their breath. As she leaned against the wall, Kit noticed the bandage on her leg she was gesturing toward and his brow quirked. "Yep, I'd say that'll do it." He confirmed. When she looked toward the door, he nodded in agreement. "We should get out of here." The man turned to follow the blonde out of the alley, his face turning sheepish as she suddenly asked why he was in the baby section. Running his fingers through his hair, he quirked his lips. "I, um, I'm expecting." His eyes widen as he thought about what he'd just said. "I mean, uh, not me obviously. But the girl, Sam, yeah, she's expecting...I'm going to be a father." He finally settled on that after stumbling over his words for a minute, his lips curving up even more at the end as the happiness seeped into his eyes. |
