Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
The Sun Also Rises
One day, he so fully intended to expand his knowledge upon those soul mates in whatever way he could. Dorian, perhaps, far more intent to explore Sebastian's affinity then even the vampire himself and yet it was simply within the nature of the Fae to desire to gain knowledge of the world around him. It delighted him to know regardless of the topic or how foolhardy or useless such knowledge might be. Research into soul mates would, largely, surely be the result of hearsay and philosophy rather than scientific fact and yet it so delighted the man all the same in the very way those myths and legends of ancient Greece seemed to enthral him. How Sebastian could so go through life not desiring to know just how each and everything worked he hardly knew and yet, truly, he almost envied the man's ability to simply admit he had no real interest in this or that and merely ignore it. Dorian all but incapable! The very idea that some beings had multiple soul mates while some might be reassigned in a fashion so clearly prompted that curiosity within him, his features frowned in no small measure of contemplation off just that and the veritable possibilities it might lead too. What if one met more than one soul mate at once? Did each person they were attached to have multiple soul mates as well, or simply one? Were all threads red or some variation of red? Did some people have no soul mate at all? Did they have no soul? How Sebastian so slept at night he hardly knew! This, he was sure, was why he had no been allowed such a power if only for the manner in which he might obsess over it. Sebastian having so admitted that he had once attempted to untangle those threads he saw only to declare it futile and simply ignore it. Dorian hardly assured he possessed the mental fortitude for such a thing.
The Monarch so contented himself for now at least, with threading his fingers through the vampires own as he all but reclined against him. That talk of soulmates and how truly fortunate they were to find one another within this world, just as his own parents had- so had a way of demanding a furthered affection from the King. Dorian wholly content to relax into that embrace, the man finally assured he was close enough to satisfy that need to simply be with that man he adored as he continued with that tale Matteo had so finally revealed to him about those early years of his life and the time his Father had spent with him while he was able to before Ferdinand involved himself further. How difficult it must have been for Matteo to so watch his veritable family in the arms of another man, one whom hardly seemed to care for them and so dangled them before him in an effort to exact some control over him. No wonder the Frenchman had always been so bitter about Ferdinand. Dorian found he could hardly blame he. He himself was not a Father and yet it was not too terribly difficult to imagine the emotions involved and how desperately hard it might have been to stay away. Dorian assured he felt nothing but terrible over some of those thoughts he had allowed to exist over his Father. The Monarch taking perhaps some small measure of satisfaction from the idea that now, at least, they so had time to make up for all those years they had lost, Sebastian's soft words seeing his gaze return to that ardent blue off his companions own. That warm simper pressed to his lips then at the vampire's suggestion that to so finally have at least one parent was exciting. Dorian unable to keep that obvious delight from his voice.
"It is. I am not quite ready yet to call him Father, I have always known him as Matteo I suppose, though there is much I look forward to doing with him. I thought, perhaps, in a few months or so I might speak to Benito and see about having Matteo properly acknowledged. After all, half of history records me as Ferdinand's son, the other half merely lists me as a bastard child with no known sire and should like to rectify it. The rightful Queen was still my Mother, thusly my right to rule should hardly be questioned but I will assess these things with our lawyers first and inquire as to Matteo's thoughts on it as well. By God though- I am envisioning the media circus now."
There was every chance, he supposed, that the Frenchman might not desire that sort of acknowledgement or attention after all these years. Perhaps he might be content in the knowledge the truth was known to those whom mattered and yet too, after near six hundred years of being utterly forced to give up his rightful title as Father, Dorian wholly supposed he might desire to have it at last. Such a decision was surely Matteo's alone to make and yet he held every intention of at least offering it to him. After all, Dorian himself took little joy from seeing Ferdinand's name listed on his own lineage. That manner in which Sebastian so nuzzled into the side off his neck had a way off stealing that chuckle from his lips. How small such a gesture of affection was and yet how decidedly much it meant to him! Dorian grinning readily at that playfulness before that query upon Sebastian's family and the matter of wet nurses seemed to tug more forceful at his Lover then Dorian had truly intended. In truth, even the Monarch knew but terribly little about Sebastian's family. The vampire so simply never spoke off them, much less mentioned his Mother. Dorian hardly having known until this moment that the woman whom had given birth to him had died well before he had truly held any chance to know her, nor that the woman whom had all but raised him until ten years of age had also lost her life. This very heartache, he suspected, was entirely the reason for that lack of mention. Dorian almost put out with himself for having asked at all and yet to learn that it was for his Mother that Sebastian had first taken up that piano- that instrument he so adored ad Dorian in turn so loved to hear was perhaps worth that story entirely. The Monarch unable to prevent that smile nor that assurance he knew to be utterly true. His Mother, surely, would be nothing but proud. Sebastian's talent with that instrument beyond reproach.
Those few mentions off his childhood, his siblings and indeed the manner in which he had been 'a terror' only sought to amuse the Monarch in some fashion. The idea of his Sebastian as anything rebellious so far removed from his knowledge of the man now that it was near laughable to consider and yet there was a distinct pleasure of sorts to be had in that knowledge that his lovers family had, largely, been an entirely happy one. Dorian querying softly then as to the death off his step-mother. The Fae not at all surprised to so be assured that it was the manner of childbirth that had taken her as it took so many- and that newborn babe along with her. So many women were lost to such a thing. To have a child, he was sure, at least in his own time and indeed perhaps Sebastian's too- was by far the bravest of acts.
"I am sorry to hear this, Mon Cher."
Dorian so allowing that momentary silence to continue before that gentle admittance from the man that he missed that family so prompted the Monarch to announce that such a family had surely been worth missing- so unlike his own. That small shrug the vampire offered felt against his figure before Sebastian declared his brother might surely have liked him. Dorian unable to prevent that grin that touched his lips now. How foolish it was and yet how very much it might mean to him to have even some assurance that some member of his boyfriends family might have approved of him. Dorian glancing upward at Sebastian once more, lips pressing to the underside off his jaw in affection.
"I'd have gone to any length to impress your family. I would have so wholly desired their approval of me."
He admitted readily enough, Dorian hardly concerned with allowing Sebastian to know just how far he surely would have gone to have the approval off his parents for himself and their relationship as a whole. That very idea of family so resulting in the Monarch's mention of the one they had managed to build together in some fashion. Mismatched and obscure though it was. Dorian affording that moment to mention his Godfather, much to Sebastian's evident surprise.
"This family I have gained with you is the nicest family I have ever had."
And how true it was. Dorian shifting but slightly within his lovers arms to press his lips to the vampires own and steal that kiss from him. That almost lazy simper dancing upon his features now. Dorian wholly unwilling to allow their evening to be tainted with sadness any longer as he inquired as to whether Sebastian might like to see but one curiosity he had found. Dorian sending Elizabeth to retrieve that magazine from his desk before handing it to him. Dorian rolling gently back onto his back to settle within his lovers arms once more, holding up that magazine for the man to read. That near disbelief in his voice as he realised what it was prompting a soft snort of amusement from Dorian himself.
"Frankly, I think it is important we know who you're destined to be with."
That tease within his voice was entirely clear, Dorian pausing to read out those first few questions. The Monarch entirely inclined to wonder whether he still achieved points if he answered the questions correctly and it was the magazine whom was wrong. That mention off Sebastian's supposed favoured song prompting that scoff from the man and an assurance Lady in Red would have been a better choice as Dorian chuckled once more. It was the magazines interpretation of Sebastian's favoured food however that seemed to prompt but further comment from the Monarch, the idea that his lover so adored roast chicken falling in a wholly teasing fashion from his lips before he near demanded to know just when Sebastian had decided he loved chicken more than Dorian himself. That genuine laughter humming from within him now.
"Darling, if you would like to phone Girlfriend magazine and personally inform them of their errors I am positively assured it would delight them. Although you will be pleased to know there are questions here beyond your favourites. Ready?"
Whether or not the vampire was hardly seemed to matter. Dorian entirely content to reach the end of that quiz and achieve at least five of those required points. The Monarch struggling entirely to keep a straight face as he continued.
"It says; what qualities does Sebastian look for in a woman? Do you know I'm not quite sure they know you're at least a little bit gay? That should say 'in a person' I think. Still, since its apparently in a woman alone we have the options of A, humour, B Style or C Body."
He paused for a moment then, as if such ridiculous answers truly required his consideration, that playfulness within his tone still entirely clear as he continued. Dorian unable to prevent that grin that adorned his lips at the utter silliness of this.
"You can be amusing when you want to be. It could be that. Although you are a very good dresser Mon Cher, I cannot imagine you would enjoy a woman who was a poor dresser. Women do have very nice bodies though, one cannot deny that breasts are awesome."
This was, perhaps, the most ridiculous Dorian had ever been and yet tonight was surely such a night for just this light-heartedness. The Monarch shifting his hand to reveal those answers Humour that apparent winner as Dorian so struggled to maintain his amusement once more before pressing on to the next question.
"When asked about what he first notices in a woman for his interview with In Style magazine, Sebastian famously offered which quote? Is it A, I like women, I don't understand them, but I like them, B Womens clothes should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to show you're a lady or C, I always look at a girls shoes and if they're wearing heels, I wonder how she would look if she was wearing just those."
That look of near serious contemplation lingered upon the Monarch's face, a simper tugging at his lips still. Dorian assured he knew his lover entirely well enough to know just which apparent quote so belonged to the man. One eye lifting slightly upward in good humor as his head tilted back to eye him.
"Bastian, is this why those nurses were wearing high heeled shoes at the hospital we opened? I knew they were not practical work attire!"
