The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The girl seems fully absorbed by her reading which leads me to believe that she's probably pretty intelligent. There's nothing wrong with a smart human; that just makes them more fun to play with. I wonder what brings her to Sacro and how she knows those delectable girls who greeted me on the sidewalk earlier. Roommates perhaps? She looks like the shy type but the freckles across her nose are adorable. I bet her parents are so proud of her. That's more of a bitter thought since my own parents were proud of me up until the point they found out I was in love with a vampire. I guess that was why my father shot me. She dresses like someone's used to the finer things but she doesn't quite seem like a total snob. Maybe one of those more genial souls that know they had it good growing up and want to give back to others who didn't have such an upbringing. It's sweet, in a boring kind of way. I watch her twist the strnd of hair around her finger with amusement, tilting my head as I wait patiently to be noticed. When she does, she gasps in surprise and my skin prickles, the predatory side of me eager for this sound right before I strike. Of course I play the gentleman and stand my ground, simply raising a brow at her like I'm not sure why she's making such sounds. She holds her book close as if she fears I might swipe it, the amusement in my eyes only heightening. A slight blush tickles her cheeks before she reins it in and my lips twitch with the shadow of a smirk. I'm used to that reaction. Finally she seems to notice why I would normally be a this table, her gaze downcast to the many pamphlets. At my question, she scowls but not in a mad sort of way, more like she's actually pondering my question. Something tells me this girl must not get hit on too often. That only makes her more desirable. Finally she answers honestly, telling me none of them and admitting that she's just holding down the fort for her two friends. She names them off and I memorize them for later. Cassie and Freya must have been the girls who saw me on the sidewalk. Interesting humans, I might have to hit them up later. She tells me that the pamphlets are alphabetized and she can direct me before she suddenly exclaims. I can feelt he vibrations of her phone from here with my heightened senses and I tilt my head as if curious. She turns away to rummage through her bag and I watch with intense blue eyes. I wonder vaguely who's in her phone. Friends and relatives or does she have a boyfriend? She looks at the phone before snapping it closed and I twitch my lips once more. Someone she doesn't want to talk to? She turns back with a smile I readily return as she starts looking through the pamphlets again but then her phone goes off again. She looks down at it and puts it to her ear this time. I pretend to glance through the pamphlets as she talks, even picking up one or two and flipping through them with the show of genuine interest even my ears are fully capitvated by the voices on the line. Ah, her parents. They seem like a lively bunch. I like them already. Of course parents have a tendency not to like me. Must be because of the fangs and tendency to bite things. I look up politely as she hangs up and puts the phone away, offering her another smile as she slides a brochure across the table though I note how quickly she pulls her hand away. A little wary of strangers, are we? She apologizes for the phone call before admitting that she has no interest in this and it just looks good on her resume. She's definitely honest. I like how she even adds on that I can take anything as long as its from the table. Definitely wary of strangers then. I glance back up at her. "I tend to get better answers from people than I do pieces of perfectly folded paper but out of interest in your resume, I'll take a few for idle reading." Offering my most charming smile, I grab a few random pamphlets and put them in the inside pocket of my jacket. At her next series of questions, I find myself more intrigued. You people? My eyebrow raises. So she knows that I'm supernatural but can she guess what kind? I tilt my head as if considering before I reply. "Well if they all campaign like you, we might never have a chance." I smirk lightly before continuing. "Whatever floats their boats, darling. If it keeps you busy and helps with your future, by all means, campaign away. I'm sure some of the more ambitious ones appreciate it to some degree. What I'm more interested in is why you don't see so enthusiastic. Did some mean old werewolf bite your friend or did you just get raised by parents who are as violent toward other species as they are toward each other?" Genuine interest floats in my bright blues as I wait for her answer. |
