That there was a kindred spirit the two had shared since their first meeting, also in a bar to absolutely no one's surprise. Though their reasons for frequenting such places were different on the surface there was symmetry there as well, both seeking out what they needed to survive in those shadowy corners that such places made their very living by. Both looking for targets who were all too willing to be found, and while they may have taken different things from their rather compliant victims the point remained. The difference now being the Sebastian's life had moved forward, quite literally on to bigger and better things while she still frequented such places with a sense of desperation to find something she had lost. It had never quiet been the same in the aftermath of what had happened to her, even though before that she had already ceased her burglaring. Perhaps that is why she kept going back, an attempt to reclaim a piece of herself lost to her own history.
Still, in the here and now with the ever intriguing European across the small table she couldn't count the night as a total loss. She hoped her explanation in regard to their now rather frequent chance encounters was enough to satisfy any reservations which remained. While perhaps some would see a connection to him as a way to profit the thought had not crossed her mind since the papers had so thoroughly explained his status to her. There was a simplicity that calmed her mind when she was around Sebastian and she wasn't sure there was anything she needed quite so badly as to forfeit it. He seemed appeased as he agreed in quiet tones with her assessment, the deep rumble of his voice equally as pleasing to her ears as his accent. She couldn't help but wonder at his own experiences to bring him to such a similar conclusion, but as disinterested as she was in drudging up her own past she doubted he was eager to relive his own. Some things were better left dead.
It pleased her to see the all too familiar simper return to his features at her evaluation that he was what made life more interesting, which she as a first hand participant in such meetings could attest to. He gaze lingered on his features as she posed her own question, not that she doubted his motives per se but knowing more about him did prompt her to simply wonder why she of all people might be worth his time. Not in a deprecating way, but the leopard knew her place in the world and it wasn't even in the same zip code as his, quite literally. Not that she minded, but still inquiring minds wanted to know and it seemed only quid-pro-quo with their current conversation. Her pink lips curved into a smile as she nodded her head slightly in indication that she understood his plight even if she did not share the experience. She knew about being used for things. Before she could confirm that he was indeed correct he reached out to stroke her face with velveteen softness.
Briefly her eyes fluttered closed before reopening and focusing on his fine features as he offered to extend his company either here... or elsewhere. She had not expected it especially considering his earlier misgivings, but it was a reminder as to why she would never pass by a chance to be in his company. Somehow Sebastian always managed to offer her freedom, in a single sentence both taking control while still leaving the choice in her hands and it was an irresistible combination. She pressed her cheek into the coolness of his hand, her eyes catching the light as they looked into his own.
