Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
He didn't have to have a power of emotions to know the sexual tension flitting between the two men at their door. In the subtle glances and the twists of the lips like some inside secret between them, Troy knew instantly where they'd rather be. His own smoldering gaze found the nape of Amelia's neck where it dove so gracefully into her soft shoulders. Oh yes, he knew very well. But alas, tonight was for civility and polite company with friends. They'd all made sacrifices. He was glad to see they were in love as much as ever after being married. Never in his immortal life had he thought to cement his claim on a being as he did with Amelia. He'd thought he could go on single and free forever and truly enjoy this existence, but from the moment he fell head over heels for the vampire, he knew that he couldn't see any sort of life go on without her and he'd have to make her his, officially. He couldn't wait to be able to call her his wife and he could tell by the way she fidgeted with her ring that she felt the same. Dorian chuckled at his comment about them looking well before reaching out to shake Troy's hand. He confirmed Troy's comment only to say that he hoped married life suited them as well. His lips curled into a haughty smirk. "I'm sure we will." He said in a knowing way, his gaze sweeping over Amelia's figure with such adoration that it was obvious he couldn't wait. He caught the blush on Amelia's cheeks as she admitted that they'd only just gotten engaged but he felt like it'd been a long time coming anyway. Sebastian greeted Amelia and then Troy, shaking his hand as well as they stepped into the foyer. At Amelia's question of what they'd like to drink, Dorian answered red wine and Sebastian followed suit. Troy chuckled. "Fine, more Bourbon for us, I guess." But even as he said it, he caught Amelia pouring glasses of wine for Sebastian and Dorian before pouring two more glasses. His bottom lip jutted out in a pout but he took the glass anyway. He was successfully distracted then by the nanny yelling before Tenley ran into the room. Amelia swept her up in her arms and his eyes were only for his little girl at that point. She really had become his whole world in such a short amount of time, her and the owner of the arms wrapped around her at this moment. Together, they made up everything he'd ever wanted in life and more. He, of course, caught onto the slight tension in the room at her arrival though, his gaze sweeping to their company to see Dorian had stepped closer to Sebastian, who had his arm wrapped almost protectively around his husband's waist. He knew that Tenley was a vampire child but surely they didn't think she would mean them any danger with a fairy for a dad? He understood Sebastian's wariness when it came to Dorian because he would do the same at any inkling of danger to Amelia but even so, he was still surprised. They looked even more astounded at how much she'd grown in such a short span of time. Dorian spoke first, pointing out her growth before Sebastian asked how it was possible. Troy could see them looking between each other as if Dorian expected Sebastian to have the answers and yet from Amelia's words, she'd felt the same. Of course, Troy knew this was undocumented territory. A born vampire child was unheard of or he'd know about it. He'd been researching the archives of the Council ever since Amelia found out she was pregnant. Nothing like this had ever happened before. They were in uncharted territory so he didn't expect anyone to have the answers. He was just praying for a good outcome, whatever it may be. Amelia assured Dorian that Tenley was a happy child before explaining to Sebastian how wild this was from the beginning. He knew from her last words that she was fretting again, worrying about the lifespan of their daughter. He stepped closer to her on instinct, leaning over to kiss her shoulder affectionately, his gaze finding hers to remind her that they were in this together. He had faith that Tenley would stop aging when she'd matured just like the fae did. He'd assured Amelia as much but he knew she felt it her duty as a mother to worry. He couldn't turn that off but he would keep the faith for both of them. As Dorian reached out his hand to Tenley, Troy smiled at his daughter, eager for her to socialize with others but she was shy to new company and turned to hide her face in his shoulder instead. He chuckled, shrugging at Dorian. Dorian took it all in stride though, saying it was probably too soon for such greeting gestures with her anyway. "You're right. She takes new toys as collateral, instead." He smirked to let them know he was joking, trying to lighten the mood after all the wariness of his daughter. He hated to think anyone could fear her. Sure, she was a vampire but she wasn't undisciplined by any means; Amelia had made sure of that from Day One. And it wasn't like he was going to pull away from her life because he had fae blood in his veins. If anything, he felt she would have the ultimate control by the end of childhood because she lived with temptation every day. He listened as Amelia reassured Sebastian about Tenley, telling him she wouldn't hurt Dorian. He smiled in agreement as he ran his fingers through Tenley's hair. At Dorian's question to Tenley about joining them, he was glad that she decided to come out of her shell a little and answer, telling him she had a special chair. "You sure do, sweetheart." He told her before listening to Amelia explain about her booster chair. At Dorian's question of diet, Troy let Amelia answer that as well. They must be wondering who she took more after, him or Amelia. He liked to think that while she ate like a vampire and avoided the sun like a vampire, she still shared some of his features. She was still every bit his daughter in his heart and mind and she always would be. About that time, a staf member let them know dinner was served and he licked his lips. "About time. You hungry darling?" He asked Tenley before stepping to Amelia's side. "I know I am." He leaned down to whisper in her ear, nuzzling her ear lobe before walking into the dining room. He heard Amelia ask over his shoulder what blood type he prefered as he got Tenley into her seat so she'd be ready to go for the food. He still remembered a time when it made him uncomfortable to see Amelia drink. And now she drank from him on a regular. How times had changed them both. |
