i used to rule the world
seas would rise when i gave the word
The rain had been falling in a nearly torrential fashion for just over an hour now, those steady stream of droplets had worked through his clothes, soaking the man to his very bones. A disgruntled look was mirrored upon his features as his hand rose, that familiar weight of the spear nestled in his fingertips brought him a peculiar sense of satisfaction as he so plunged it within the woman's chest, that sharpened silver point so piercing her heart with such a steadfastness that even the scream that left her lips confirmed that which they both knew well. There would be no healing from this - there was no coming back from tonight. The Hunter's Council had enough of her antics and she had finally been forced to pay for those mortals she had so willingly ravished. Her body stilled near instantly, her breath wavering in mere hitches as her hazel eyes stared upwards at his hardened features. It was done. He watched that very last breath leave her lips, the man's weapon only pulled from her caramel flesh when he was certain she had left this world for the next. He leaned down, his fingers lightly brushing over her eyelids only to place two golden coins from his pocket over them. It was an old ritual and yet, Alexander was the very definition of 'ancient'. He might have been her executioner but she still deserved a chance within the afterlife.
The man was all too eager to turn his back upon her fallen form, knowing well that the city would take care of it's corpse in the fashion it so always did. Those vultures would feast well tonight, and if they did not, her kind were sure to find her. The council itself often willing to tend to those remains only when it seemed none cared of their existence. Either way, it was hardly his problem any longer. His task was done and that bloody council could see itself satisfied for yet another evening. They had started to get on his nerves of late - demanding the ancient King prove himself over time and time again. Azrael's face had become far too friendly for his liking, the man's constant belittling for his lifestyle equally of a point of agitation for the Macedonian man, enough so to prompt him on such ridiculously
easy missions in order to so force those younger souls to acknowledge that his existence continued for a reason - that he was so regarded as one of the world's greatest military geniuses for a reason. Those thoughts lingered upon the forefront of his mind as he made his way back towards the warmth of that cafe that he called his home. God how that simple building never seemed quite so inviting as it did now.
Alexander stepped through the door of that cafe, the warmth from within hitting him with a rush that sent a shiver down his spine and yet, the man hardly complained. Rather, he merely stard at the tile beneath his feet with a scowl. "Remind me again why I chose linoleum over vinyl?" He muttered towards that barista, knowing well even she hardly knew the answer and yet, he'd become comfortable enough with Calliel and her quick wit to know surely she'd have some quip all the same. The man made his way towards the bar, reaching towards those towels he knew they held behind the counter only to rustle those dirty blond locks, attempting to at least dry off some of that rain. It was a rather futile gesture, even he knew when the very wetness had found it's way into his very shoes. Damn infuriating it was, the way each step almost squeaked and squished. Any further thought upon that discomfort, however, was quickly quashed by a nearly rumbling sound that reverberated around them, that very ground nearly seeming to shake within that moment. His eyebrows furrowed, those blue-green eyes momentarily glanced up at the young woman in front of him as if to wordlessly question if she too had felt that. An earthquake? As far as he knew, the city was not situated on any sort of fault line. It was a loud snort that drew his attention towards the window, his features turning almost deadpan as he regarded that near massive rhinoceros that rested just across the street, his hooves nearly digging into the cement as the concrete outside cracked around his feet. Well fuck. They hadn't mentioned she had a
mate. "Calliel, I think we should close early." He muttered, his head gesturing lightly to those few remaining patrons. It was going to be one of
those nights.
