The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

He laughed when she asked him about the filet mignon. Her brows knitted together and she tilted her head, giving him a questionable look until he explained that it was cow and not endangered at all. "Then why'd you say rare, silly?" He was always good about answering her questions patiently and she loved that it never seemed to try his patience to talk to her about stuff. He took a sip of his drink before telling her what all came on a stuffed potato and her eyes widened. She was going to ask if that stuff tasted good but then he said it was good and she nodded with a smile. "If you say it's good then I believe you." She could see a dark shadow crossing his eyes for a minute and he got quiet and thoughtful. She scowled, letting him have his minute even though she was dying to ask what he was thinking about. It must have to do with his boyfriend or something. That was usually when he got sad like this. She told him that she wasn't a horse or goat when he mentioned salad and he chuckled before telling her that she was some o word and that means she eats plants and meat. She shrugged. "I chewed on grass sometimes and ate berries when they're sweet but I wouldn't say I was raiding gardens or anything." She smirked. He told her to put a lot of dressing on it then it wouldn't taste bad. She nodded. "Okay, I'll give it a go." The minute she asked about his boyfriend, he grew sad again but at least this time he was willing to talk about it a little. That made her feel like maybe he was starting to trust her more. She wanted more than ever for him to feel he could talk to her about anything. He said that he hurt him and she scowled, her face softening. She spoke in a low voice. "I'm sure he'll forgive you, Henry. It's love, right?" She smiled reassuringly. He said that his boyfriend already told him he forgave him but that he couldn't forgive himself. She reached across the table, grabbing his hand and giving it a gentle squeeze. Her eyes softened, wishing she knew what to say. She'd never been in this sort of situation before. Any wounds she inflicted was on purpose and she wasn't sorry. She could tell this really hurt him and in turn, it hurt her because she cared about him. "Until you do, you're only getting in your way of being with him. You have to move past it if you want happiness with him, Henry." She hoped that helped some. She looked up as the waitress came back to pour wine into their glasses. She smiled and thanked her before taking a sip. She made an "mmm" sound in her throat as she swallowed it, giving him a thumbs up of approval as she took another sip. He asked about her pack after taking a big sip and she tilted her head before smirking. "Good, actually. Frost is really patient and actually rather helpful. We're working on a project against the Hunters. Oh, and there's a truce between our packs. Him and Tetradore worked out their differences. No more pack wars." She grinned, proud of this fact. He didn't have to be scared to talk to her anymore. She hoped that made him smile at least a little. |
