The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

She hated to see all that hurt and pain in Alexander's gaze as he strove to look anywhere but at her throughout most of the talk about his childhood friend Hephaestion. She had a feeling there was something more than friendship there but what would it serve to fish further? Hephaestion was gone and Alexander was left in his wake, his heart broken. Maybe it never fully repaired, if anything she saw in his gaze was to be believed. And she did. There was such sincere grief in his eyes that she wanted to wrap her arms around him and hold him together, like he might break apart like glass at any moment. Seeing Alexander so vulnerable was new for her and she almost hated herself for bringing the subject up. He was quick to change the subject then to her and Frost and she knew in a way that he needed the distraction so finally she obliged him. She knew better than to assume that Alexander would be civil with Frost about it but in a way, maybe she didn't want him to be anyway. She had never really forgiven Frost herself anyway.
The desserts were like heaven on earth and she hated that she'd missed out on stuff like this for so much of her life. At least she was getting to experience it all now and with someone she trusted and loved. That made every bite missed worth it. He even brought up a Bakery and her eyes lit up at the idea of having more, but her stomach was quick to do somersaults when he brought up horseback riding. She wanted to try it, both for his satisfaction and her own. She was curious of the hooves beasts and their grace and beauty astounded her. What must it be like to ride such creatures? It must make you feel like the gods yourself. She envied that kind of power that Alexander must feel every time he got on one. Tonight she might get to feel that, though the idea still scared her too, cause she thought about how far it was to fall. He spoke up, telling her she didn't have to ride tonight if she didn't want to, that they could just meet the horses and see what she felt up to.
In a way, she didn't want to disappoint Alexander by not riding but maybe she'd feel better about it once she got to see them in person. She nodded and offered a shy smile. "Okay." As he paid the bill and rose from the table, she stood as well, listening as he said that there was a stable just on the other side of the lake. Her stomach did another flip but she nodded and walked around the table, reaching delicately for his hand before heading in that general direction.
