Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
The Sun Also Rises
He adjusted himself but slightly within Sebastian's lap as he spoke, Dorian inclined to find a distinct and almost perfect peacefulness within such a position, the man so simply craving but even the smallest of touches from his lover, as if he so desired to make up for the early hours of the evening in which they so often engaged in just this behaviour. Matteo's visit so resulting in Sebastian having woken alone. It was foolish perhaps and yet in all the time they had been together Dorian so strove to be at the mans side each and every time that life returned to him. The Monarch loath to miss even one evening even if it had been something of a necessity tonight. It was that soft assurance from the vampire that his Mother and Matteo had indeed been soul mates that saw the silver off his gaze lift to his lover once more. Dorian unable to prevent that simper that adorned his lips. He had suspected such an answer, at least to an extent and yet without Sebastian's confirmation he had hardly dared to believe it might be so. It was curious perhaps, the way that warmth of sorts seemed to settle within him at the very notion that his Mother and Father had, against all odds, so managed to find each other. That new understand of sorts so forming readily within his mind. This alone so surely confirming just why it was so, in all these years, Matteo had never married. He simply did not want to love another. That want alone so surely strong enough to prevent even fate itself so finding another for him- if such a thing even occurred. Dorian given to wonder then, truly, if one might ever have more than one soul mate in life. The man offering those thoughts then on just that notion of why Matteo had remained alone.
He could hardly help the fashion in which he pressed all the closer to his own lover then, the Monarch wholly fortunate to have found Sebastian. That very sensation of love, after all, had changed the entirety off his life. His meeting with Sebastian that fateful evening, even if unknown at the time, had been that very catalyst for the change that would be the beginning off some very much. Prior to the vampire Dorian wholly debated whether or not he had ever truly loved anyone or anything before, perhaps he had and yet nothing yet had ever compared to the utter intensity of the emotion that so gripped him at even the thought of his consort. If Matte had felt but even half of such passion for his Mother then Dorian understood entirely why it was so he never desired another. Dorian inclined to think he would be no different. Nothing and no one would ever compare to Sebastian or that which they shared. The vampires hand stilled within his hair then, Sebastian's hand shifting to rest upon his waist before near effortlessly shifting him upward and onto his chest as his arms wrapped about him and Sebastian lifted his own legs onto that couch, leaving the pair in that far closer embrace. Dorian wholly unable to prevent that soft chuckle that hummed from within his chest as he settled contentedly in that far superior position, one hand still entwined loosely with the vampires own as he rested his head near against Sebastian's shoulder now.
It was that very notion of soulmates and threads that surely prompted that question to befall his lips. Dorian content to inquire just where that thread led if one partner had died. Sebastian's response so stirring that frown of consideration to his features again. He had surely considered that the thread might be broken and yet he had not at all considered it might change colour. The Fae momentarily intrigued with this idea even despite how truly....sad it seemed. Sebastian inquiry as to whether or not he might desire to see that thread next time met with a ready nod.
"Yes please, I should like to see that. Is it so that he will never have another soul mate? Although I suspect he does not desire one."
How many questions he might have off this soul mate business! Dorian so struggling not to bombard his lover with them this evening all the same. The Monarch pausing then before so continuing upon that tale Matteo had told him about those few early years of his existence. Dorian unable to shift that guilt so entirely that he had, for so many years, surely thought some measure of ill of the Frenchman , that subtle shake of Sebastian's head drawing his attention once more. His lover making some effort to assuage those fears. Dorian unable to argue at the sense behind those words even if he was assured it would take some measure of time before he felt distinctly less guilty over it all- foolish though it surely was. Dorian so always having been a distinctly....caring in being in every sense. Others mattered to him. The man loath to consider his own poor judgement in this and yet Sebastian's words so stole that soft simper to his lips all the same.
"You are right, I know it is so. He and I have much time to make up for."
Time in which, Dorian was sure, himself and Matteo might finally achieve that relationship they surely both desired. He continued then, speaking the end of that tale, another chuckle stirred from his lips as Sebastian near nuzzled against his neck in a manner almost ticklish and yet how that simple act of affection might see his heart flutter even now! That grin still upon his features as he queried Sebastian's own early childhood and whether or not those wet nurses were commonplace still. He had not truly considered the price of wet nurses, nor that infants had died in their care, his head tilting slightly in some consideration before the very notion that Sebastian's Mother had died when he was very young seemed to strike him. In all that time they had been together he had never known such a thing nor even truly considered it. That mention that it was for her that the man had so learned to play that piano readily seeing his own features soften at the simple....sweetness of that dedication.
"I am sure she would be more then proud of you."
He uttered softly, Sebastian by far the most skilled pianist Dorian had ever heard in all his time. How one could not be proud of such a thing he hardly knew. His silver gaze lingering on the man still as he spoke off his Fathers remarriage, his sisters and the apparent terror he was as a child. Dorian quite unable to envision such a thing let alone prevent that grin of amusement that touched his features at the very thought before he so mentioned the death of even his step-mother. The Monarch's words then entirely soft;
"Was it the manner of childbirth?"
Childbirth, after all, was the leading cause of death of women within his own time outside of a sickness within the home and yet Dorian so doubted it was illness that had taken both his Mother and Step-mother so many years apart and too, without taking any other. The struggle of childbirth was not at all unknown to him, even if he had never witnessed such a thing himself. That, he was sure, was distinctly the business of women alone. That his Father, at least, had so seemingly lived a long life was perhaps some small comfort and that his sisters had attended his wedding was a wholly pleasant though in the least- one readily dashed at the vampires assurance they had died soon after his wife. It was perhaps the single thing that so bound near all immortals together. Each of them had lived long enough to see those they loved die while they stood by unchanging and untouched by time. He had seen members off his own court who refused to be Fae die one by one. He had seen his siblings die and his Mother. Dorian so struck then with the idea that he was fortunate, impossibly so, to still have Matteo. That terribly soft utterance from that man he adored that he missed that family even after all this time was hardly unanticipated. Those word so prompting Dorian to shift enough to press his lips to the underside of the vampires jaw.
"It seems to me, Mon Cher, that you had a rather good family that deserves to be missed."
This was, perhaps, the most Sebastian had ever spoken off his family in any sense, much less the only admittance the man had ever made to missing them. How assuredly he would have brought them all back for his lover if he could! Yet how eternally the deaths of any mortal they befriended would only continue to grow in number the longer they lived. That, perhaps, the price to be paid for immortality. Dorian allowing that soft sigh to pass his lips then, the very faintest of warm simpers finding its way to his features, his hand so tightening in his boyfriends own.
"We cannot replace those we have lost but perhaps we can make our own new family, mismatched though it will surely be with you and I and Charles and Elizabeth, Giles and Elaine and Matteo and Alexander. He is my Godfather you know, that Hunter whom gave me the coin and that coffee to bring home to you? Matteo told me tonight."
That simper so remained upon his features then, Dorian so attempting to draw his lovers thoughts away from those he had lost and towards that rather mismatched little family they had found themselves with all the same. The Monarch unwilling to allow that sadness to exist within his Consort tonight. Dorian glancing upward once more.
"I have something I should like to show you, it is terribly silly but I saw it last week. Do you care to see?"
He paused only so long as it took Sebastian to assure him he did. Dorian hardly inclined to move from his position upon that couch and nestled so contentedly within his lover's arms. The man calling softly for Elizabeth before so affording her direction towards his study and the magazine he had left within his top drawer. The woman returning with it a moment later to hand to him. That simper upon his lips near impish now as he took that teenage girl magazine, that page already folded to the one he desired. Dorian holding it within his hands at just the angle to allow Sebastian to see a picture of the vampire himself upon that page beside a series of question beneath the title Is Sebastian Ellington Your Perfect Man?.
"Apparently, I achieve one point for every question about you I get right. If I score more than five points, according to this, we may be destined for one another. They have one for me on the next page."
It was, surely, one of the most decidedly silly magazine pieces ever run and yet for tonight- Dorian simply desired to ignore those issues of politics and religion and family and everything in between. Tonight, surely, might be for them alone.
"The first one is easy, it asks what your favourite colour is. I am sure it is blue and the magazine agrees though I don't recall us ever giving an interview to Girlfriend magazine so I am curious as to how they managed this. The second asks how old you are, I know that too. The third asks what your favourite song is. I am sure it would be something by Chopin although the magazine claims it to be something called Brown-eyed girl by Van Morrison."
One eye lifted just so, amusement touching his features then before he continued. His voice now entirely teasing.
"What is Sebastian's favourite food? Do you know, Mon Cher, all this time I so thought it was me. Apparently it is roast chicken. How long, might I ask, have you liked chicken more than me?"
