East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Arlo James

See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch

His voice, it seemed, was so entirely terrifying that it caused the girl to visibly flinch in shock- that glass tumbling from her hands to shatter upon the ground. Arlo's gaze flicking to stare at those shattered pieces before glancing up at the woman once more in something almost akin to concern. A part of the vampire was almost inclined to check that he had remembered to put on his clothing and not merely wandered out of his room entirely bare. The girl, for her part, continued to ignore that broken glass and splashed water as he wandered readily towards her, one hand reaching to open the nearest draw, inspecting it with clear surprise at having found anything in it at all. His eternally blue gaze glancing upward as she stuttered over her words, surprised to find he was the other tenant and that he was a...a...'vampire' was the word he had expected to hear in that moment. Arlo assured the landlord would have mentioned that in the least. To hear the word 'boy' stuttered a moment later merely saw one eye raise, that lopsided grin tugging at his lips in a ready good humour even if she hardly looked impressed- her own cheeks flushing a sweet pink.

"What gave it away babe?"

The words were entirely teasing, Arlo wholly oblivious to both her disdain for his gender and too her completely lack of knowledge on his species. The young man entirely used to being called out for his vampiric ways rather than his gender. This was both a pleasant and amusing surprise. Arlo, as he often was, seemingly oblivious to the discomfort of others if only through his own overtly ebullient demeanour. The woman continued to stutter in nervousness, her fingers reaching up to twist around her ponytail in a way he found entirely girlish and almost endearing if not for that fear he could very near scent upon her. It was simply the way of things- the predator within him responding to her fear even if he hardly acted upon it, his features frowning slightly in consideration before dismissing the thought. It was because he was a vampire surely- even if she had hardly said as much. Arlo supposing, really, that it wasn't entirely intelligent of the landlord to have placed them together- this saying rather a lot of the man's faith in Arlo himself. Even if he rarely preyed upon humans it hardly meant he was immune to the scent of blood. He was simply better at ignoring it provided it stayed beneath the skin.

"Did he tell you anything else about me?"

He inquired suddenly, almost curiously, one hand reaching up to brush a few of those near-black locks from his eyes if only to get a better look at her. The woman apparently one for manners in every sense of the word, grumbling then about both his existence and his not offering his own name first. Well. Someone was a little grouchy today, a soft huff of air resounding within his chest. That crooked grin of amusement hardly faltering. Just wait till Little Bear heard about this one! Ah Miyako. He could remember that he was sure, even if it was a little odd. His shoulders shrugging easily at her attempts to apologise for breaking a glass he hadn't even known he'd owned. One hand lifted to wave the concern away.

"Nah, don't worry about it. I don't use them either so really you just broke your glass. I can call you just Mi right? I'm Arlo- since you asked. Oh here, let me-."

His own form crouched then with the intent of helping the girl clean up those broken shards of glass, her fingers barely grasping that first piece before she flinched, dropping it suddenly, that all-too intoxicating scent flourishing within the room. Arlo stumbled back and away from her almost hurriedly. Her words upon becoming a doctor almost lost to the sound of his feet scrambling against the floor until he was near pressed against the nearest wall in some bold effort to place some distance between them. As if that might save her. As if distance might lessen the smell, his pupils dilated readily at the sight of even that drop of blood she hurriedly washed down the sink. He was getting so much better, had been so much better and yet open wounds were still a weakness. That she was not another vampire perhaps all that was so saving her now as he turned to very near throw that window open behind him and let in that chilling night air. Her words bringing a weak, forced laughed to his lips.

"Yeah, blood, right. I don't like it either, not at all, it makes me feel all.....umm.....odd. I'm going to just....stick my head out the window for a bit. Maybe you should put a band-aid on it or something."

His fingers were clutching that window sill so hard he was afraid he was moments from breaking it. How would that look, one night and he killed his roommate? He was better than that wasn't he? Right? The sound of Mi finishing washing her hands and removing that scent of blood from the room readily begun to see the vampire calm, Arlo focusing upon the outside alone and several deep, easy breaths until he felt control returning to him once more. The man at last turning back to face her though remaining near that window still, that soft grin slowly working its way back onto his lips. Arlo ever the optimist.

"Maybe we should just make a new house rule? No bleeding. I think that will work for us both eh?"
