The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
It made sense, he supposed, those things Damon said. Arlo frowning slightly at the use of a dog as some sort of reference and yet, really, it only made it all the easier to understand. After all, who hadn't seen a dog get after another dog who'd come to close to its food or its toy before? Arlo's gaze resting on Damon still in that clear consideration. He'd laughed at those vampires once. The ones he'd seen get territorial over some space or, more commonly, over some person they were with and yet wasn't he turning out to be just the same? His thoughts had a fashion of lingering on Abby then, hell, they had a habit of lingering on Abby a lot. Another question already forming within his mind then and yet for now in the least he held it back. Arlo entirely unsure of just how much he wanted Damon to know- at least just yet. Although so far the other vampire had proven to be almost friendly- if not blunt when it came to announcing his opinion. Sometimes though, that could be better than holding it back. At least Arlo was getting answers from him. Answers to those questions Patrick had died before ever getting to. God how he missed that guy sometimes. His attention shifted quickly then by the addition of that alcohol and his assurance that he could handle whatever Damon threw at him. Maybe he didn't do the party scene anymore but he damn well remembered how to drink, his lip quirking upward at Damon's assurance that was duly noted before his hand reached back to that vampire girl he'd been feeding on, that electricity sent effortlessly through her frame to start that heart again and force that blood around her body. Arlo finally leaning back a few moments later with that hunger fully sated.
He was oblivious, entirely, to Damon's efforts to afford him that space while that meal was still in his lap- some part of him surely appreciating it all the same before he reached for that drink that came his way. Arlo downing it far faster than such good alcohol surely deserved and yet that grin that found his lips offered some indication of just how much he enjoyed that drink all the same. Damn but that was nice. This maybe the finest alcohol he'd ever had. Huh, how the other half lived. He'd have to remember what this was. Maybe one day he could afford to have it again.
"Yeah bud, it's bloody good."
He assured him a moment later, the waitress suddenly arriving with more as his eyes lifted in surprise again. Was she just going to.....keep refilling that? How much was this costing? Maybe he should drink it a little more slowly. Arlo glancing briefly at Damon's glass then before taking a much more controlled sip this time around. It was his query of vampire blood then that saw Damon show him that girl's neck then, that mention that his blood could heal other vampires seeing that curiosity return to him then. How did Damon know these things? Did every vampire know this and he was just the idiot that didn't? Well- at least someone was damn well telling him he supposed. He'd never considered, really, that a coven could use that method of healing to basically heal itself over and over again- his eyes widening slightly at that realisation. It made sense, really and yet Arlo had never stayed around a coven long enough to actually watch them work. Most of his life had been spent running away from them. After all, Covens never reacted well to his presence. Not that he supposed he blamed them. He was here to feed on them after all. Vampires, the world's apex predator- were his prey. They never did seem to enjoy that. Damon's open-ended query as to whether or not his blood would work just as well saw that curiosity touch his own features, the elder vampire's words almost a dare and one he was more than willing to take up.
His curiosity continued to longer on that wound as Damon mentioned his mate again, that fine red-haired woman he'd met once before. At least someone else had gone a few years without knowing their blood healed. Maybe he felt like slightly less of a vampiric failure now. That grin touching his lips as he watched that wound heal beneath the touch of his own blood. Huh. Would it work on humans too? His attention shifted back to Damon as the other vampire shrugged, stating he hardly saw why it wouldn't. Arlo left with that contemplation as he lent back in his own seat, that drink lifted to his lips again. The man willing enough to admit to his rather lacking ability with money, one Damon seemed to think was just a...left over human trait. Was it really? That seemed almost...dubious and yet- had Damon been wrong about anything so far? Damon, if anything, seemed to know a hell of a lot about most things. Although why he was so willing to share was still something of a question. That wariness, it seemed, while distinctly diminished seemed to exist in the younger vampire all the same. After all, he hadn't survived this long by being totally foolish. Arlo, perhaps, choosing to ask his own blunt question then- though whether Damon was about to be honest or not he hardly knew. This the most interest anyone had ever shown in him, well, in a friendly sort of fashion anyway. Covens always were interested in him- if only to obliterate him. They rarely wanted to talk to him, or investigate those tales in regards to his being stronger than any normal vampire ever was. Arlo largely oblivious to the extent of his own powers. The man too young, perhaps, to have realised just what he was capable off or how useful his own still-developing talents truly were.
Damon's near faultless assurance that he would have killed him if he'd been, well, less interesting, readily seeing Arlo nearly choke on that sip off his drink. That seemed a little...harsh? His blue gaze lifting back to Damon's own, the man appearing entirely serious in that near bluntly offered honesty once more. Well. Alright then. Arlo lifting one hand to run his fingers through his hair then as if searching for some sort of....appeasing answer.
"I mean....that makes you a bit of a jerk still, just saying, bud. You...er...don't want me to join your coven or anything though do you? Is that what this is about? I'm sure its....lovely but since where playing the honesty game and all I'd probably eat someone in your group even though I say I wouldn't. Some vampires they.....have blood I.....almost can't resist it. Like it's...somehow stronger or better or something. I think it has to do with who they've been feeding on. I've only met one guy with blood like that so far. An English vampire in this city. It was like eating fucking heaven. Seriously bud, you've never had blood like this in your life."
God he could still remember the taste of it. Even now. That hunger within him that only moments ago had been sated seeming to spike rapidly, his pupils dilating once more in response. Arlo oblivious to that sudden reach of another off his affinities then, the sheer thought of that blood he wanted seeming to hold some effect over him. Every single television in that bar suddenly losing its signal. Several of those patrons glancing around in a clear confusion before those lights begun to flicker, that music screeching to a halt all at once. The vampire oblivious to the nervousness that seemed to exist around him then. All three of those doors that led from the bar to outside or in to any other room slamming shut- those electronic deadbolts slid across. The entire room it seemed having somehow fallen effortlessly under his control without as much as a movement from him. The sudden shout of the bouncer attempting to forcibly open that door with sheer strength alone saw Arlo glance upward. That hunger suddenly grasped and forced back. His gaze shifted back to Damon then. Those lights suddenly flaring back on in time with those televisions. An entirely new song bursting in to life as Arlo suddenly grinned. The bouncer thrown backwards as that door unlocked on its own.
"Oh hey, I love this song. Have you heard the cover of it? It might be even better than the original."
Arlo entirely oblivious to any of what had just occurred in those single seconds he had been content to consider Sebastian's blood. His gaze returned to Damon in full then, the manager striding past them in an effort to get the bouncer off the floor, sending several others to check the wiring and apologise to those patrons for that disturbance before loudly proclaiming the bar didn't even own this song and would someone please shut it off. Those girls returned to their work now. Arlo taking another sip of that drink before regarding his companion again.
"What was I saying? Oh, yeah, covens. I mean I'd just be kinda worried I might try bite someone or....you and you seem really into the killing when people annoy you, which, you know, is great and all but that stresses me a little. If you want me to leave your bar alone though I will. You were decent to me, I can be decent to you, eh?"
