The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I shift impatiently on my feet as I wait outside the little cafe I came across while meandering through Sacrosanct. I've been waiting on Raven for an hour or so now. In her defense, I practically ran here in my shifted form, impatient as ever to show off my new discovery. I'd never noticed this place before. It's almost like a little hole in the wall. You wouldn't really notice it unless you knew it was there. I found it by accident. I was actually running from a meat man after I just "borrowed" a slice of steak he was about to cook. I don't mind at all that it's raw and blood is seeping from between my teeth as I run. I'm very used to eaing meat right off the carcass since my pack used to hunt in shifted form all the time. It was a way of life back then. I'm still confused on a lot of human foods now because of this. I decided Raven and I need to shake things up a little and find a new place to go. The tag game in the meadow didn't turn out the way I wanted and I know Raven's been thinking about it ever since. I hate the way she looks at me when she's thinking about it and I always know because her brow furrows and her face twists as if in pain, as if remembering how she had to bite her own legs to keep from hurting me. I hate seeing that look. I wish we could put it behind us but I don't know how to help her do that so I'm looking for a distraction instead. I ran into the cafe while running from the meat man and managed to hide out under a couple's table. He didn't see me and I got off scot free, even got to eat my steak in between the woman's legs without her even noticing, though she might have noticed some blood on her shoe after her meal. I glance once more up and down the street, looking for her. I think she was with Tobi again last night at the warehouse. I don't even know if she came to the house to sleep last night. I went to bed pretty early though. I was feeling quite exhausted, but I was so excited to tell her about my surprise the next morning. I told her to meet me on the east side of town. I know she doesn't particularly like this part of town since it's more crowded and full of stores and other stuff she doesn't like. I just hope she trusts me on this and doesn't think I'm going to take her shopping or something. |
