The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

He didn't even want to think about all the things might have been done to her wherever she was at. He wanted to interrogate her, get a location so he could pay them a visit but he knew she was in no shape right now to relive it. She needed to rest and know she was safe. It was the only way she could start healing. Then he could try getting her to open up a little. It's not like they were old friends or anything. They hadn't gotten much past the acquaintance stage before. He thought she was cute so he started a conversation with her and she turned out to be charming and witty too which was a plus but then things went sideways and he ended up running into Godric at that ball and never saw her again. He tended to get overwhelmed when it came to his Maker. After all, he hadn't seen him in almost 1000 years. They used to be each other's everything. Brother, father, son, lover. They shared everything. They hunted together. And then he decided it was time to move on, for Erik to truly find himself. But he made that decision for Erik. He remembered feeling lost for a long time before realizing that he was his own person and he could do or be anything. He ended up running into a vampire coven's territory and when they found out he couldn't take orders well, the leader challenged him. That was his own poor decision. Erik ended up killing him and then took over as the coven leader. He grew comfortable, racking up money from his very profitable businesses. He ran everything from night clubs to banks. He had his hand in pretty much every cookie jar in the Louisiana territory. But he grew bored and so he appointed a new leader and left the coven, left Louisiana. He only returned when he got word that Julia had met her true death at the hands of a Hunter. His Viking spirit came alive then and there was a rage like nothing he'd ever known. She was his right hand in Louisiana. She'd gone from bartender to secretary to assistant in no time. He knew she deserved the immortal life so he turned her, making her his only prodigy. She was perfect. Ruthless and intelligent, she could bring anyone to their knees, woman or man. And yet she had a heart of gold hidden under all that metal. To find that she'd gotten herself captured and then killed incensed him like nothing else. He was a rampage for revenge and he wouldn't rest till he found that Hunter and made him pay. Somehow the man had managed to stay one step ahead of him but it was only a matter of time before he slipped and Erik was a very patient man. He showed his fangs to Sorcha without hesitation. She could choose to fear him, loathe him, or accept him, easy as that. He knew she wasn't thinking the clearest but they hadn't spoken enough that night at the bar to go into what they were. He knew from her blood that she was a witch so it only made it fair that she know he was a vampire. She didn't seem that phased when he flashed his fangs before pulling them back. Instead she asked if he was here for her blood and he chuckled, shaking his head. "No. I'm not hungry and witch blood is too rich for my taste." She didn't seem scared of him so that was a plus. Now he just had to find out if she had a safe place to go. Somehow he knew he wouldn't be satisfied with her just wandering off on her own. He had to know that whatever happened to her wouldn't happen again. He watched curiously as she cuddled with the cat and cried as a mother would cradle her child. He'd never understood the relations between humans and domestic animals. They just made messes and cost money from what he'd seen and that hadn't changed in the centuries he'd been alive. She glanced up at him, asking if he didn't like cats and he couldn't help but smirk. "Don't take it personally. I'm not a dog person either." It already felt good to see even that little hint of a smile on her lips. She looked like hell but at least she still had hope. When he offered to take her to his place, she slowly put down the cat and started playing with the hem of her shirt. His brows furrowed, wondering if she was trying to think of a way to turn him down. She called him kind but he caught the hesitation there. Then she asked about payment and his eyes went wide in understanding. So that's why she wanted to turn him down. She thought he wanted something in return. He was quick to shake his head. "No payment necessary. I don't want anything in return. I just want to know you're safe." He met her gaze gently. He didn't know where this protective instinct for a witch was coming from. She was still practically a stranger and already he was inviting her and her cat into his home like it was natural. Nothing about this was natural. He should have shrugged her off and kept walking but he couldn't. Usually he wouldn't care about anyone's business of his own so why care now? Something about her drew him in. He followed her gaze back to the shop. He could hear her muttering and he scowled. "It could be fixed up again. A couple renovations and it'll look good as new." Next she turned back to him, asking how far and he straightened up off the wall, though he kept his hands in his pockets and his shoulders slouched, just a natural position for him to blend in better. Plus he figured it made him look a little more harmless with her. "A few blocks. If you get too weak, I can....carry you." His brows furrowed even as he offered, not sure where any of this was coming from. Just from looking at her, he knew she couldn't be that heavy, not that it would matter anyway with his supernatural strength. He could get to his house faster that way but he wasn't going to pressure her, sure that she didn't want to be thought of as a damsel in distress or anything like that. |
