Alexis wished she knew how to comfort her immortal boyfriend at moments like these, when he seemed so haunted by his long ago past, a past she could only imagine. She didn't know the man he brooded over or the history they shared, but she had to assume it was something big. Something important, at least to Alexander. And her heart hurt for him. True, there was a little bit of jealousy in her heart to see how much this mystery man meant to her boyfriend, but mostly, she just felt sad for him, sad that they couldn't be happily together now. Whether it was just a strong friendship or something more, she couldn't assume, but the man was definitely something to Alexander, irreplaceable. Alexis let her fingers brush across his hand in a moment of reassurance, not caring if he could read into her thoughts at that moment.
He seemed distracted at first though and she chewed her lip nervously, wondering if she'd overwhelmed him with either her request, her thoughts, or both. When the Hunter withdrew his hand, she tried not to show disappointment, watching as he drank his wine before giving her a name. Hephaestion. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity as she leaned forward a little to hear, wanting to know everything. Alexander told her that he was a page (she had no idea what that was) and that they met when Hephaestion was ten. He spoke of a place called Mieza (she, of course, had no idea where that was) before explaining that they were in the army together and how they grew closer. She stayed as still as could be while he turned his gaze to the lake for a moment as if to bathe in those distant memories, not wanting to ruin his nostalgia or rush him.
Emotions slid across those blue eyes she loved so much: adoration, pride, love(?), and finally regret. It seemed crushing and darkened his whole face before he shook his head as if to push the thoughts back. She already knew the ending to this tragic tale just from what his face had told her before, but she listened anyway as he told her that Hephaestion had died. Her breath left in a soft exhale as she looked down at the table. "I hear people say sorry when they find out someone has died, but I don't see how apologizing changes anything or makes it better. Nothing can make it better. I can only tell you that my heart hurts for you and I wish there was something I could do to bring him back." Her gaze slowly lifted to find his, sincerity and pain flashing in their green depths. The topic was then changed to Frost and she could tell her boyfriend was not at all happy with the WereHorse.
She almost wanted to know what he would do or say to Frost when he next saw him, but another part of her wanted to stay in the dark. Frost was in her past and though they may still have to see each other from time to time since they lived in the same city, that didn't mean she had to tolerate thoughts of him any more than necessary. The dessert that was delivered later was sublime and she grew excited when her blonde date assured her they could go to a Bakery in the east soon. Then he reminded her about the horses and she froze a little, her stomach suddenly somersaulting with anxiety as she gave him a small nod. She was still nervous about being around animals she knew little to nothing about but for Alexander, she would do anything.
