South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

She didn't understand what he was saying at all. He wanted her to pretend she was a seal? She scowled at him, rolling her eyes before sighing and doing as he said. "I'm sure it is. Have you seen how fat they get? That must be the life." She almost mumbled the words as she stretched out on the board, trying to balance. After a while, it felt almost normal, at least when she was relaxed. She felt him relaxing too, until she caught his eyes wandering. She couldn't help her own amusement, asking if he was okay. He was quick to tell her he was, mentioning that he wasn't used to teaching young women. She smirked, too amused not to show it. "We're friends, Ashton. You don't have to be professional with me." She added in a teasing wink.

She teased him about surfing and the skating rink and he chuckled, saying there wasn't many options for fun. She tilted her head. "What, no woods to run in? I think we have different definitions of fun." But then her face sobered a little and her face softened, realizing that they were raised very differently but that she wanted to change some of that. "What else did you do for fun, besides surfing and skating?" She was eager again, curious. She wanted to learn more about the human side of things and experience it for herself. What better guide than Ashton?

When he looked behind him, she felt him tense in readiness and she tensed in response. Was she ready for this? She wasn't so sure. The water suddenly looked so cold and deep. He told her to paddle, telling her when to stand but she was only half listening as panic set in. What if she wasn't ready? He said something about falling and her eyes widened. "What? I don't want to fall!" But before she could voice more, he suddenly pushed her forward. She gripped the board for dear life, biting her lip before she set her shoulders. She could do this. Letting out her breath, she started to paddle, feeling the water start to lift the back of her board.

She gasped as she started feeling like the water had picked up the board and was now taking it with him. She tried to remember what to do next. What was he saying about a wave breaking? What did that even mean? She glanced back, hoping to ask him, sitting up she did but the board suddenly rocked forward and she gasped as she was pitched off the side. She winced as her body hit the cold water, but it wasn't too soon after that warm arms wrapped around her, bringing her back up. She knew it was Ashton and relaxed in his embrace. That is, until she felt a certain not so relaxed muscle pushing against her pelvis. She inhaled sharply, her own body suddenly aching as she responded to his hormones. "Thank you. I didn't know you were so happy to play my hero." She waggled her eyebrows at him, unable to help herself.
