He felt the more he talked to Arlo, the more he could understand and relate to him. He nodded when he explained how grumpy he could be eating in front of others. "It's all part of the package, I believe. All of our emotions are heightened and the need to keep what you earn is as strong as anything. We become almost feral when feeding, more like animals than humans so just in the way a dog will bite another dog if it gets too close to the bone, so too will we turn on our own kind for thinking they might snatch what we rightfully got." He leaned back in his chair and tilted his head, hoping he'd explained it well enough. As the waitress came over, his lips tugged into a smirk as he watched Arlo straighten the girls in his lap as if to make them look more comfortable and less dazed. Then he smirked at Damon and said he'd been into some strong stuff so he could handle it. One brow arched up in further curiosity but Damon nodded in acknowledgement. "Duly noted." He watched as Arlo used his defribullator fingers to get the girl's blood going again before finally leaning back. He looked a little full now though Damon knew better than to lean toward him while he still had the girls in his lap. When the drinks came, Arlo downed his almost instantly while Damon took more careful sips of his, wanting to savor the flavor. This was from a good bottle. He could tell. It was rich in flavor with just a hint of smokey. Licking his lips, he nodded his head for another round and turned back to Arlo. "Good? You certainly seemed to enjoy it." He said with a smirk. Then he showed Arlo the woman's neck and nodded at his question. "Yeah, if a vampire gives another vampire blood, it'll speed up the healing even more. That's what makes covens so unstoppable if they work together. They heal each other and that way, they stay strong. But I wish I knew if it worked with your blood as well." He raised a brow as if daring Arlo to try. At his question of where he learned it, Damon chuckled. "Believe it or not, Isolt taught me that one. I had no idea of the healing powers of our blood before she showed me." He watched as Arlo tried it and his lips tugged into a grin when he saw the woman's neck heal. So it did work with Arlo's blood. Interesting. Arlo seemed excited about it, wondering to himself if it would work on a human. Damon shrugged. "I don't see why it wouldn't." Then he shook his head. "None that I can think of off hand right now. If I do think of some though, I'll let you know." He said with a smirk. His eyes gleamed with satisfaction at Arlo's compliments of Isolt. He certainly knew she was worth all the trouble. Then he said Damon could help him with investing if he ever got any money. He nodded. "An unfortunate habit left over from being human. You'll get better at it with time." Then Arlo asked him why he brought him here. He tilted his head. "You're unique. If you were just another vampire looking for some easy cash, I would have just killed you for disrespecting my business. But I've never met someone like you before and I've always had a curiosity for things I don't know about." His brow arched, wondering how Arlo would take his honesty. |
