Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
It was still something of a mystery to him, really, how Sebastian walked around with this feeling of love just.....bubbling around within him. How did he stand it? How did he function? Didn't he just want to be with whoever it was he loved all the time? Was it annoying to feel like that twenty four hours a day, or at least, for however long he was awake before that sun rose? Arlo simply had not anticipated how intense those emotions might be, or the way they seemed to effect every part of him and more then that- how they seemed to change him. For those few minutes he had loved Sebastian he had truly and completely loved him. Nothing had mattered. Nothing at all. Not their shared gender or the prejudice that came with it, not the fact they were both vampires and that Sebastian was certainly already committed to someone else. His entire world had shifted to focus around that other man and it was, well, alarming....sort of. It was different, new, the sort of emotion he wasn't used to feeling. Hell, it was almost frightening to know something could be that intense. For those few minutes he would have done anything in the world for Seb. He'd have died for him. He, Arlo, the man whom valued self-preservation above almost everything else would have thrown himself in harm's way for some other man. Maybe this love business was way more powerful then he'd ever given it credit for.
It was almost a relief to be free of those feelings and yet at the same time it felt like he'd...lost something he needed, that confusion dancing ever so briefly upon his features before the younger vampire hurriedly cast it aside. It was all falsified anyway. Sebastian had told him he'd feel like this. It was his own stupid fault for not believing it. Arlo unwilling to admit a tiny part of him, somewhere, had almost enjoyed that feeling in an odd sort of way. Yeah, probably better not mention that. Things might get weird. That affection he felt for the other man so fortunately seeming to have evaporated as he peered at him between his fingertips if only to make sure no lingering feelings of love felt the need to explode once more. Sebastian seeming, well, likeable and yet hardly loveable. Arlo breathing a veritable sigh of relief. That questions as to what he thought of that song so finally directing his attention to Sebastian entirely, Arlo assuring him it was good. Pretty damn good actually, maybe even good enough that he could have put words to it if needed, Sebastian waving off that notion almost immediately as Arlo's lip quirked. Maybe the lad wasn't much of a singer. Arlo hardly finding he could tease him over that when his fairly sure his own skills were, well, not that great. At least his bandmates had always told him he was better off writing the songs rather than singing them himself.
It was that desire to show Sebastian, he supposed, just how good that song sounded that saw the younger vampire offer that play through. Arlo assured that he could at least use that recently acquired power for something useful other than breaking every bit of technology he touched. Those...kinks still needing a little smoothing out. That almost wary acceptance on Sebastian's part was met with a roll of his own gaze. As if Seb thought he might butcher that song by trying to play it with his own fingers. His own affinity reached for that piano, Arlo having at least learned to direct that power accurately most of the time, the vampire readily feeling that surge of electrical energy at his fingertips before those keys suddenly pressed downwards. His own blue gaze drifted to those notes as that affinity continued to embrace that instrument, the piano playing so seemingly of its own accord, that soft, sweet melody played with almost as much skill as Sebastian's own fingers had coaxed from it. Arlo allowing the elder vampire to hear that song in full then, that soft chuckle rising in his own throat at the curious look Sebastian gave that piano before declaring that song to be as good as Arlo promised. That almost tentative way in which Seb pressed one of those keys down was hardly missed, the younger vampires arms folding over his chest, Sebastian seeming almost fascinated by that keyboard then. Arlo feeling momentarily pleased with himself to at least have managed to amuse the other vampire.
"Pretty badass, eh? I can do things with technology, I don't really know how it works....exactly, but I couldn't let you have all the sweet powers. It...er.....used to be my Makers power, I don't really know how I got it, I inherited it I guess, there was this shoebox and well, whatever, it's still pretty cool- for the most part."
That crooked grin worked its way back onto his features. Arlo fairly sure Sebastian wasn't going to understand that story about a bar and a panda and a cactus and everything in-between. The shorter version of that tale surely sufficient before he glanced upward once more, his features shifting slightly into something almost uneasy and hungry all at once. Without that music so feeding his emotions that simple scent of Sebastian's blood had a way of cloying his thoughts and fixating his senses and yet still that idea he'd announced his undying love for the man was, well, kinda bloody weird. Arlo abruptly content to inform him friend that he was not in fact in love with him, just in case Sebastian had been wondering otherwise. God, if Sebastian told anyone what he'd said or done he'd never live it down! The other vampire seeming almost amused no before assuring him that secret was safe with him. Yeah. Sure. Arlo wholly undecided as to just how trustworthy Sebastian was and yet for now, at least, he was willing enough to accept it.
"Yeah, well, I didn't actually think it was going to work that well to be fair, bud."
That grin managed to touch his features all the same. Arlo willing enough to let that matter go for now, he supposed, even if he might never quite get over the fact the very first person he'd ever announced his love to was another vampire man. At least it would make for a good story, he supposed, another sigh drawn from his lips then as he furthered considered those words he said. Had he always been this bad at flirting? How had he ever gotten anyone? Maybe he was better at in when he was drunk or high or whatever he'd been for most of his teenage years and yet somehow that seemed doubtful. His gaze flicked briefly back to Sebastian then, the other vampire promising to show him how to do it properly if he ever met the right girl, a part of Arlo almost content to argue he didn't need that much help before his jaw closed once more. Maybe that wasn't the type off help he should be turning down.
"I'll keep you in mind, Casanova."
If he ever met a girl. Ha. Maybe in a hundred years. Still he supposed a little advice might not hurt in the long run. His thoughts for now were content to drift away from those eternal issues he seemed to have finding a girl and towards that far more pressing issue off his own hunger and that meal Sebastian had promised him. His gaze lingered on the other man now, his tongue fiddling with his fangs almost absentmindedly in that very contemplation, that saliva already threatening to run at even the thought of what he knew was surely coming, that simple anticipation pressing upon him even now. There was something almost....enticing about someone so willingly giving him his blood. It was almost exciting in some way, something about it only seeming to incite that hunger all the more, an intimacy of sorts attached that that action that made Arlo decidedly grateful for that opportunity and yet a part of him felt almost....possessive over Sebastian in turn. It was a ridiculous thing to feel he was sure and yet he could hardly help it, that predatory part of him relishing in that way Sebastian offered himself to be fed on. To not have to hunt him, lunge at him and pin him down was an opportunity so rarely presented to him. Arlo so rarely given the time to enjoy those meals in any sense. After all, he was usually too busy trying to finish before his victim summoned the strength to stand once more else unleash some power upon him. Sebastian's assurance he could bite anywhere only further seemed to entice him, Arlo readily struggling to hold back that eagerness if only to cling to some shred of pride even despite the fact Sebastian surely already knew how much he craved that meal. His blue gaze roved briefly over the other man then, Arlo readily considering that offer, his tongue sweeping across his lips then.
"Your neck then, but higher up then last time, its easier, the vein is closer to the surface. Undo your shirt again if you want, whatever you prefer, but maybe let the wound heal before you go back to your boy tonight. He might freak out over you having teeth marks in your neck and I'm not taking the blame for that."
Those marks should heal completely within an hour or two, as long as Seb hung around for that much longer he should be fine, right? His gaze drifted back to the other vampire then, affording Sebastian the opportunity to unbutton his shirt or take up whatever position he wanted. Arlo so distinctly unused to simply.....asking his victims. It felt almost...civilised. It was almost nice really. No wonder Seb liked that whole relationship thing. Did his lover just let him feed whenever he wanted? Arlo shifted easily from that table then, simply coming to stand behind the seated Sebastian, one finger lifting to run along that flesh of the other man's neck. Arlo searching for that vein he wanted, his finger pressing slightly more firmly.
"Can you turn you head to the left a little more, yeah like that and slightly up, that's it- just stay there....please."
That simple want was surely clear in his voice alone, his gaze readily darkening now in that simple anticipation, that skin of Sebastian's neck pulled taut with that motion. His own head tilted then, his lips brushing against that cool flesh of the other vampires, his lips finding that vein once more as one hand came to rest on Sebastian shoulder. That firm grip so keeping the other man upright and too- keeping him still. Willing victim or otherwise a part of Arlo was simply unwilling to let Sebastian move when that meal was so close. His own lips finally parted, those sharpened points pressing against the flesh, higher up then last time, before abruptly biting down. Those canines so eagerly pierced that skin, puncturing that vein beneath in turn as that blood rushed to the surface to meet his lips. His own venom acted nearly as swiftly, delivering that potent cocktail of chemicals and sedation until he felt each of Sebastian's muscles relax beneath him, offering the other man that glorious high no other drug could ever seem to give a vampire. It was only once he was sure Sebastian was fully under the sway of that blissful peaceful sensation where the entire world felt utterly perfect that he let his fangs lift from that wound, covering it again with his lips to draw that blood. God. It was better than before. It was so much stronger. Sebastian certainly not having lied about when he had last fed. That blood was still warm, that vein near fit to bursting. It was complete and utter heaven. That taste!
That sound of pure satisfaction rolled easily from within his own throat, Arlo greedily drawing mouthful after mouthful from that wound. He hardly wanted to stop, he had no desire to stop at all. Just one more mouthful, or two, or ten, just how ravenous he was going to leave Sebastian hardly seemed entirely important to him now when that taste was so sweet. Sebastian's blood flow slowly began to lessen as his body begun to heal- Arlo simply continuing to take from him all the same. An almost growl of irritation rose within his own throat at that lessening blood, the younger vampire so reluctantly leaning away at last, his tongue sweeping over that wound and a little further down Sebastian's neck to catch that single stray drop. His hand, this time, stayed resting on Sebastian's shoulder if only to keep him upright, that chair perhaps not totally ideal, he really should have moved him to the couch. Oops. Hell but he felt good though. His entire form radiating that utter life he had pilfered from the other man. His eyes closing briefly as he licked that blood from his lips. His own words almost breathless.
"Do you have any idea what you taste like? I mean, it's better than last time, I didn't think it could get better....."
