How did he sit up here? She felt so unsteady, her knuckles almost turning white from holding the edges of the board so tightly. She felt like if she let go, she would surely roll right off and into the water. He told her to balance on her stomach and she scowled at him. "What do you mean, like a seal or something?" She didn't know how else to describe the way that sounded to her. He pushed the board out deeper and she felt her heart racing in her chest. What if she fell off? What if her dog paddle didn't work in this form? Would she drown? Surely Ashton wouldn't allow that. He assured her that she could sit up so she slowly but surely pulled herself into a sitting position. It felt so weird to be sitting like this. She gasped as she looked around. It felt like there was nothing but ocean all around her, even though she could see the shore and other people from here. Still, it felt isolated and nice...peaceful. She smiled, letting her hands slowly release the board and start to wave back and forth on the surface of the water. When he told her good job, she glanced over to beam at him, her eyes practically glowing. For a second, she thought he looked uncomfortable about something, his gaze shifting suddenly like he was looking somewhere he shouldn't. Perplexed, she leaned down a little. "You okay? You seem a little....tense." She raised her brow, obviously teasing but there was a twinge of concern in her face cause she hated to think that she was actually causing him any discomfort with this lesson. It was supposed to be fun and a way for them to hang out. Then he said that he used to do a lot of surfing back home and she smiled, glad to hear more about his life before he came to Sacrosanct. "Oh yeah? Was that before the skating rink opened up for the day?" She smirked, bringing up how good he was at that, too. |
