The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It was obvious Arlo didn't know his own potential but Damon was more than happy to share it with him. He could see only benefits to having a crusnik in their coven. Sure, there were risks involved but what secret weapon doesn't have those? Besides, Damon was sure he could help Arlo control the hunger situation. In no time, he could have him where he could walk through a crowd of vampires and not feel the need to bite a single one. He was just that confident in his own powers of persuasion, plus he didn't think he was that bad of a mentor either. So far he wasn't doing half bad, right? Arlo still had his doubts though, telling Damon that he wasn't sure he could keep himself from biting other members of the coven and that he didn't have that much control but either way, he thanked Damon for his ego boost. Then he apologized for calling him a dick and Damon chuckled and shrugged. "I've been called worse. That's atually one of the more common though, along with asshole. The control will come with time, practice, and a strong amount of will power. But you have plenty of all three if you put your mind to it." Arlo seemed a little tender on the subject of his own maker which told Damon they were probably pretty close and it might still be fresh to him. Fresh enough to hurt. Luckily Katherine had put a major metaphorical stake in Damon's heart to the point where he could care less about what happened to her at this point. She earned whatever she got. Arlo seemed very intrigued with the answer to the question of inheriting your maker's powers though, but the moment Damon answered, he could tell it wasn't what Arlo wanted to hear and yet something told him Arlo already knew the answer he was going to get. It was almost like he could see Arlo wince and then he asked if he could trade it in or something. Damon shrugged and shook his head. "I don't know, really. I've never thought about trading my powers. I've seemed to find uses for all of them so far and I suggest you do the same. Just accept what you've got and make it work for you. You'll forget to live if you spend your existence worrying about the what-if's." He wasn't going to lie just to set Arlo's mind at ease. He didn't work like that. At least he got a little chuckle out of knowing Lucas was too weak to even enjoy the bite from Arlo. Instead he had to take an instant nap while his blood was drained from his body. Oh well. Damon might slip a little bonus into his next paycheck or something, if he was feeling generous. Arlo's interest seemed to peak when they pulled up the strip club and Damon grinned, glad that he could bring the younger vampire somewhere that he could actually enjoy himself. ARlo seemed to take everything in with wonder as they got to the VIP booth and took a seat. Two girls came over and started dancing on the table, perks of being at this table. Damon could give his power of persuasion a break, at least for a little bit while his charm did the rest of the heavy lifting. He called for the brunette who was dancing on another guy, watching Arlo's distracted features as the girl came over. He chuckled under his breath, enjoying every bit of watching Arlo's jaw hit the floor. He must not get treats like this often. Damon was going to shower them on him to show him that living this life wasn't so bad after all. It wouldn't do to hang out with an emo crusnik. The girl started dancing on Arlo and Damon could see that he was fighting for control. Instead of offering sage wisdom, he left him to fend for himself this once, wanting him to know that he had the power to control it without supervision or help. Somehow Damon knew this would help more in the long run. It was like watching two battles though cause he could tell Arlo's humanity was in the play too. He probably didn't have a lot of women that danced on him like they knew what they were doing, like they were asking for it. And now he was here to give Arlo that look that tells him he could go for it. It was easy enough to dispatch the guy who was brooding over losing his brunette but Damon didn't want him to see what he was sure Arlo was going to do to her anyway so he decided it best to get rid of the man and his crew. He watched the man leave holding onto his bleeding wrist with a satisfied smirk before his attention drew back to Arlo and Honey. Then as if to show Arlo what he was allowing him to do, he pulled Honey in close and sunk his teeth into her neck. He pulled in just enough to satisfy him and then cleaned her wounds and healed them with his blood, wiping her memory with one glance before he looked over to see what Arlo was up to. And he wasn't to be let down. It seemed the minute Damon decided to partake in his meal, Arlo too gave into his hunger. And what a show it was. His lips quirked in amusement as he watched Arlo bite her wrist first and it was almost instant, the way her body slumped forward on him like a date that had had too much to drink. She looked to be enjoying herself still though, murmuring soothing words of encouragement with a peaceful smile on her full lips. Arlo then bit into her neck and Damon sat back, watching with interest. He had to wonder what vampire blood tasted like. He always though it would be stale and cold after being in a body with no real circulation. But maybe there was a trick here. He was sure it would fail since he wasn't designed for it like Arlo was but maybe some day he would try it, just to find out. For now he enjoyed the show and then Arlo pulled back and licked her wounds, only to start asking Damon why he was rubbing his own blood on Honey's bite marks. He was about to answer or at least show him what it did before he too heard the gasp and turned his head in an almost carefree fashion. He blinked at the other vampire as if to say "what's your deal?" before he noticed the way she was looking at Candy and Arlo. He was about to send her on her way however he could when Arlo suddenly disappeared from his chair. Blinking again as if to make sure he was seeing right, he looked back at the other vampire just to see Arlo behind her and sinking his teeth into her neck. Impressed, he tilted his head in wonder as Arlo then reappeared in his seat with the second vampire now in the chair next to him and Candy back in his lap. He heard her moan, asking to be bit again and Arlo delivered, biting the other side of her neck before he seemed to remember Damon was there. The look he gave Damon was wary as if he thought the older vampire might take one his meals or chastise him. Instead Damon started clapping and gave him a smirk. "That was impressive. I've never seen anyone teleport before. And you managed to stop the problem without anyone else even realizing what was happening." He waved his hand around to show him that no one else was the wiser, everyone still enjoying their beverages and food while the other girls continued to dance. No one had noticed a thing. His eyes practically twinkled with delight. He could care less at this point whether the vampires were dead. They weren't friends or coven so he could care less. "You know what? I think this deserves a drink. Well, in addition to your twin cocktails." He motioned his head toward the two vampires before raising his finger to get the waitress' attention. She hurried over to them, only glancing at the two unconscious-looking girls for a moment before she quickly looked away and back at Damon, asking what he'll have. "Your strongest bottle of Bourbon." He glanced at Arlo, a silent question of what he was craving. The waitress smiled at him politely, her eyes purposely avoiding looking at Candy or the other girl. "What about you, sweetie?" She asked softly. |
