Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
A Fae? Arlo felt his own eye rise slightly in curiosity at that admittance that this was Sebastian's apparent love interest. He knew what it was of course, a fairy, a little elf-like person with pointy ears or at least- that's what he was imagining. Something like the elves in Lord of The Rings only shorter- maybe. He'd never actually seen one before. Patrick had always said he likely wouldn't. Fae, apparently, were the rarest of those supernatural species if only for that very thing Sebastian so mentioned in turn. They weren't exactly hardy. Patrick had put it much the same way, along with the assurance that vampires seemed to love their blood a little bit too much and that was part of the reason the species was not exactly as common as it should be. Was that why Sebastian liked this guy? Because he had addictive blood? Then again, Seb didn't seem like the kinda guy to write a song for someone just because he thought they tasted nice. That seemed a distinctly grand effort. Maybe this wasn't any of his business, Arlo half inclined to wonder if that was part of the reason he liked Sebastian's blood so much. That combination of Fae and, well, whatever it was that made Sebastian the way he was. Would straight Fae blood taste just as good? He suspected not, at least, not for him and yet if Fae blood to Sebastian tasted the way his blood did to Arlo then he supposed he could see the allure there. God, could he think any more about food?
Still, those words were entirely sincere as he offered them. Wouldn't it be nice for at least one vampire to have some sort of healthy, functioning relationship? The kind that seemed to eternally allude their species? That word of thanks was met with a ready grin once more before Arlo settled easily back on that couch then, pausing to pass Sebastian that notebook a moment later, complete with those few adjustments he'd made to the melody. That chuckle that hummed from within his companion's throat was met with a determined scowl as the other vampire seemed to notice those perfectly decorated outlines of his own name. Great. He'd seen it. Sebastian, wisely perhaps, choosing not to tease him further upon it. Arlo instead directing that conversation right back to the very place his mind seemed incapable of veering away from. Food. He could smell Sebastian with every breath he took to speak. That scent cloying and enticing and deliciously sweet. He was being far better behaved about it then he normally was, Arlo making that distinct effort to try and ignore it, for the most part and yet his veritable youth and too- just how desirable the other vampire was to him in regards to a meal was beginning to weigh on him. His own constantly manipulated emotions perhaps seeking to hold that hunger at bay in turn, after all, the idea of....disappointing Sebastian by not finishing that song seemed to irritate him constantly. The sooner they were finished here the sooner he could eat. Those first few tendrils of vampiric impatience beginning to show even as his eyes rolled at the comment the other man offered him. Arlo waving a hand at him dismissively before simply telling him to play.
Those first few notes, in the least, seemed to have little sway over the tall young man. Arlo working to push those strands of dark hair from his eyes as he contemplated that sound and the pleasantness off it. It wasn't until those richer, more vibrant notes came into effect that vampire readily felt himself fall under the sway of them and by then it surely already to late. He was hardly aware of his own actions, at least, not really, the forceful push of those emotions seeing Arlo abandon that couch entirely to appear beside Sebastian upon that dining room table. He just wanted to sit near him. Nothing wrong with that right? That almost flirtatious greeting falling from his lips almost without his consent. That his companions request to have him turn those pages was purely designed to distract him had hardly occurred to him, the younger vampire seizing onto that task with far more enthusiasm for something so mundane then he normally would have. His own blue gaze followed along with those notes before he reached forward to pinch at the corner of that page, flipping it over with far more flare then the task surely required and in a manner that so readily displayed the muscle within his arm. Arlo assuring Sebastian that it definitely came from working out- just in case the man had missed it. That soft query from the elder vampire prompting that further smile on his own lips.
"Yuuuup."
As long as Sebastian didn't ask him what he was benching these days he'd never know he didn't work out right? What the other vampire thought of him had suddenly become important all over again as that music continued to play. It was that want for something more within those notes that seemed to inspire a similar want in Arlo himself, the vampire almost coyly letting his foot run along the length of Sebastian's limb, averting his gaze each time the man glanced his way as if he was somehow being secretive. He never had been good at flirting, not really and especially not when those emotions had been forced upon him well before he was ready to feel them. One hand reached readily forward then in a genuine display of affection, something that ran deeper than simple lust, Arlo pushing aside that stray lock of hair that threatened fall across Seb's features. He settled himself easily then, content to merely stare at the other vampire as if he truly was the object off his every affection. That song only continued further then, that initial lust and affection and want giving way to something different entirely, something far, far stronger. That same utter love from before beginning to ensnare him now. Those feels were....intense. That love so eclipsing and so much stronger then anything Arlo, at least, had ever felt before. It was exhausting and encompassing and yet glorious and powerful all at once. He'd have done anything for Sebastian then. Anything. If only it would make him smile or bring him some pleasure or show him, somehow, just how he felt in turn. It was like there wasn't enough words, at least, not enough of the right one to convey that feeling.
That soft utterance of Sebastian's name seemed to capture his attention. His name suddenly seeming like the most important word in all the world, Arlo uttering it with something akin to reverence, before his finger reached out to gently turn the man's head towards him. He needed his attention after all, his full attention, that soft grin resting in his lips as Sebastian's gaze met his own. This seeming like exactly the right moment to tell that man just how he felt about him, to utter those three words he'd never once uttered before to any other being. There was a moment of silence then, one punctuated only by Sebastian holding that note, Arlo oblivious to the other vampire's efforts then to at least attempt to be a good friend, to so try and spare those feelings- even falsified as they were. Sebastian's assurance he would remember that seeming entirely soothing to him somehow. That smile touching his lips again as the last few notes of that song fell from the vampire's fingertips before that sound faded away and with it, most of Sebastian's power.
For several moments Arlo merely blinked, his emotions already beginning to rearrange, his features frowning slightly in some contemplation of what he had just done, let alone what he had said. What had seemed a good idea five minutes ago hardly seemed a good idea now. What had seemed sweet and romantic now, frankly, just looked weird. God, he had touched another man's leg, his hair, his face, he worked out? What sort of crap was that? What the fuck did he care what Sebastian thought of his shirt? A clearly audible groan echoed from within him, his head sinking into his hands, long fingers running into his own dark hair. Fucking hell. He'd told a man he loved him. Was this how it happened? Was this how dudes started loving other dudes? His fingers parted slightly, Arlo glancing between them at Sebastian once more if only to make sure he didn't feel any sort of attraction to the man still. No part of him, at least not any longer, at all inclined to get any closer to the man for anything other than his blood. Thank god. That question was ignored a few moments longer as Arlo simply struggled to collect himself, the man shifting deliberately sideways if only to put at least a little space between them. Sebastian's words only now seeming clear to him. He'd remember that? He'd remember Arlo telling him he loved him? Ass. He'd never live this down! Arlo sighed at last, his hands resting back on that table.
"Truthfully? It's good, bud. It's probably better than good. I could probably write words to it."
That wouldn't be hard, not when he felt like this and yet he somehow had the sense that this wasn't the sort of song that should have words and more than that, even if it did, they weren't his words to say. If there was anything in this world Arlo appreciated it was surely music, the man willing enough to afford that song a moment of reverence of sorts to be appreciated in full. After all, it was his work too.
"Did ya want to hear it yourself? I mean, I can't play it like you can, I'm not that skilled with keyboard but, here- just sit back, I think I can play it. I always think music sounds just a bit different when you hear it while playing and when just listening you know?"
It took perhaps more focus then he cared to admit, Arlo extending the newest of his powers towards that keyboard then, seizing it readily. He could almost feel that power within the machine, the man feeling both eyes lift upward in surprise before that keyboard so gave in to his own desires. That song beginning to play itself. Those keys pressing without any fingers to touch them, Arlo inclined admit he was, in fact, a far better keyboard player without his fingers there to ruin it. That song nearly as sweet and smooth as when Sebastian played it himself- and so minus that magical influence. That small simper of satisfaction settled on Arlo's own lips. The young vampire rather proud of his own ability, allowing Sebastian to hear that song without having to focus on remembering the notes. That melody finally dying down as Arlo's arms folded over his chest.
"See? Good, right?"
Sebastian was afforded that near toothy grin once more, those sharpened fangs flashed towards the other man, Arlo remaining just where he was for now. After all, Sebastian had promised him that meal. A part of the man was almost loath to admit how....pathetic he was when it came to blood. Sebastian's in particular- and yet that distinctly animalistic part of him had decidedly little pride. Not in this. Arlo having simply become content to stare at the other man once more in a clear expectation. He remembered that promise right? Sebastian surely not about to go back on that now, Arlo's tongue fiddling with the points off his fangs in contemplation of just that before his features suddenly seemed to frown once more. His blue gaze turned to Sebastian then.
"You know I don't actually love you right? I mean, no offense, I think your cool and all but I mean.....your weird trippy playing got me all confused. Don't you damn well ever tell anyone I touched your hair or your leg or anything like that either."
What reputation he was trying to uphold he hardly knew, still, this hardly seemed the sort of thing he needed getting around. Another sigh falling from him then.
"I'm really....bad at flirting aren't I? You know what- forget that too. Did you want to work on the song anymore? Cause if not I need you to pick where your happy to have a few bite wounds, neck, wrist, arm- wherever. I'm not trying to rush you or anything bud but, well I am. I can smell you and its really damn good."
