Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
Amelia was quickly moving from room to room, wanting to make sure everything was absolutely perfect for tonight. She did not want this dinner to turn into a flop as the last one had. After all, she had two monarchs that she was entertaining. If that wasn't enough pressure, she knew that they would be showing off Tenley as well, and that caused a whole new set of nerves to start firing.
Just when she was about to feel more than overwhelmed, she felt Troy's hands around her waist, pulling her against his chest. Eyes fluttered closed as he nipped teasingly at her ear. She smiled as she turned to face him, taking the opportunity to kiss him after he finished telling her that she looked good enough to eat. "I could say the same about you as well, my love." She let her kisses trail along his jaw, nipping lightly at his flesh. She could smell his intoxicating blood flowing just beneath his skin. But she pulled back. She could not let herself get too distracted tonight. Perhaps when her guests were gone.
Pulling back from him, she reached for a glass and poured herself a small glass of bourbon. She threw it back, shaking her head lightly as the alcohol burned on the way down. "Troy, I know I shouldn't be nervous, but I am. What if Tenley causes them concern?" Always thinking about her daughter, Amelia couldn't help the worry that washed over her. Perhaps she was just overthinking things.
It was the sound of the doorbell that caught Amelia's attention. She kissed Troy once more, this kiss more chaste and quick than before. Heels clicked against the tile flooring as she came to stand at the door. She waved off her staff, indicating that she would answer the door and they could continue prepping for dinner.
As the door swung open, she smiled at Dorian first, and then Sebastian. She could smell the cut on Dorian's face, but she did not draw attention to it. Unlike her young daughter, Amelia had years of training to resist her urges. Even when it came to Troy, she was able to rein in her control. Tenley, the poor child, was still learning to live with a fairy, but she was doing very well. Dorian was not her father...so it would be interesting to see how the toddler reacted to this new stimulation.
Opening the door wider for the two men, she stepped aside and motioned for them to come in. "Welcome Sebastian. Dorian. I do hope marriage is treating you both well." She offered the two of them a soft smile, twisting the engagement ring around on her finger. Soon, she hoped, she would officially be married to Troy. While she didn't need a ring or a fancy piece of paper to say that she was his, there was something enthralling about having it all set in stone.
Once they were both inside, she closed the door behind them and lead them towards the parlor where she had left Troy. Stepping up to the bar, she turned to the three men. "What can I get you gentlemen to drink?" She was already pouring herself another bourbon when she heard the nanny in the background. "Tenley! Wait! Come back here!" The nanny was practically running after the toddler who was making a beeline for the adults in the parlor.
As she entered the room, Amelia was quick to scoop up the child who she could tell was curious about the new scent of fairy in her home. The child, even though she was only six months old, looked as though she was two going on three YEARS old. Her hair was brown and curly, flowing down her back. She looked like the spitting image of her mother, with her father's eyes. Her dress was light pink and she wore some sparkling pink flats.
The poor nanny entered the room after the little girl and Amelia offered her a smile. "Don't worry about it, Claudia. I'll take it from here." The nanny looked apologetic as she nodded and exited the parlor. Amelia sighed as she looked at her daughter before turning back to Dorian and Sebastian. "I was going to wait to introduce you a little later...but here's Tenley." The vampire child smiled as she looked at the men before looking towards Troy and holding her arms out to him. That child loved her papa.
