The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
He was oblivious, really, to any idea that Damon might think him useful. Arlo had never been thought of as useful before. Not really. Not even by himself. He'd never been that good at school, his mother had been on first name basis with the principal by the time he left. He'd never really held down a job, hell, the only thing he'd ever been good at was music and then....the vampire thing happened. Now he wasn't even much of a vampire. At least, he'd been led to believe he wasn't. Arlo hardly having considered really that those other vampires tended to chase him out not because they were afraid off him feeding on them, which they probably were to an extent, but that some of them at least feared what he was- or what he could be. Covens had never worked out for him. He'd never had one good experience with them yet. Still, he wasn't exactly completely and totally opposed to the idea. Only ninety percent opposed. The young man still listening to Damon all the same, the idea of some sort of hierarchy seeing him frown slightly. He wasn't that good at taking orders. Maybe that was why his job at the supermarket hadn't worked out. Telling customers to pack their own bags probably wasn't great customer service. One hand lifted to rub at the back of his neck almost thoughtfully. What Damon was saying sounded good, at least, in theory- but would that really work? How long before someone turned on him? Or more likely, before he bit the wrong vampire?
"Sometimes I kinda just.... bite people, even if I wasn't supposed to bite the other members I couldn't promise I wouldn't exactly. I haven't totally mastered the self-control yet. I'm getting there though. Thanks for the vote of confidence though, bud. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad. You're not a total dick like I thought before- sorry about that."
He managed to flash that grin towards the other vampire all the same. After all, Damon seemed to think he had value and that was, well, it was basically a compliment wasn't it? Coming from someone like Damon who didn't really seem the type to give out compliments it was something. Arlo more then willing to take it. The young vampire finally seeming to have accepted Damon's company entirely. Hell, maybe he even liked him a little. He was a bit...intimidating and maybe one of the last people Arlo might consider crossing but he was kinda cool. What he hadn't expected was that story about just how Damon had become a vampire. Hell, he'd had a worse time of it then Arlo ever had. At least he hadn't had some chick basically ruin his life and then have his brother damn him to eternity. Alright. Maybe Damon understood. Even Arlo not quite sure he'd have managed to turn out decent with that much crap going on. He didn't blame Damon at all for hating his brother or that girl. Not even a bit. Hell, he hated them a bit for him. That was a bad hand to be dealt. Damon seemed to have embraced it though, at least for the most part. Maybe this guy did have something to teach him after all. He was certainly doing alright now if this car was anything to judge by.
Arlo paused briefly then, making some effort to explain exactly what he was to the extent of his own knowledge. Patrick had died well before he'd finished explaining that whole Crusnik deal and even then he'd half suspected even Patrick hadn't fully understood. He'd never asked about Patrick's own maker, at least, not beyond knowing she had been a Crusnik too. That was how it seemed to pass after all. It made sense he supposed, Damon seeming to agree. The topic off his Maker however was hardly one he was willing to indulge in all that much. Patrick a veritable sore point even for Arlo, the man the veritable master of pretending nothing mattered. Besides, how often did he find himself in the company of an older vampire like this who wasn't trying to fight him off? Why waste the opportunity, that question lingering on the forefront of his mind. That perhaps poor use of the word 'old' all but lost on the boy as Damon snorted, arching an eye up as Arlo asked over those powers. The man hardly surprised at that answer. Hadn't he already known the truth? Damn. A sigh of sorts fell from his lips, Arlo leaning back in that car seat as Damon explained his own persuasion power. At least that was a useful one. At least that wasn't going to get him into trouble.
"Can you....get rid of those powers you inherit somehow? I mean, I dunno, can I trade it in or something? What if you have something you don't want?"
Powers didn't exactly work like that, he was fairly sure and yet hell, for all he knew Damon might have known some magical cure. The blue eyes of the boy shifted to meet Damon's own then as if almost willing him to give him some sort of answer he wanted to hear. Arlo reluctant to offer what that power actually was, that mention of Lucas momentarily distracting him then, his shoulders lifted in a shrug. It wasn't like he'd done any real damage to the fellow right? Arlo making some effort to assure him his employee was just unconscious. Most vampires giving way to the sedation of his venom entirely, the stronger ones staying awake long enough to enjoy that blissful high he gave them. Arlo chuckling softly at the elder vampire's words as they pulled into that club. This, at last, seeming to capture Arlo's attention entirely as he followed Damon to the door. He was never going to say no to girls. A genuine excitement for that night ahead settling with him as Damon took care of that bouncer almost effortlessly, Arlo blinking in a momentary awe. Shit. That was a good power. The idea that supernatural's could fight it stored within his own memory just in case he might ever need it, Arlo simply offering him a grin as they made their way to that VIP booth.
Arlo had barely made himself comfortable in that chair when two of those girls made their way over almost immediately, Arlo glancing briefly towards Damon, half wondering if the man had somehow compelled then to come. Then again, maybe this was what being a VIP got you. Attention. The younger vampire hardly capable of stopping that grin on his features. Vampire or not he was still very much a man an entirely different sort of hunger stirring within him no as those woman danced. Damon's words almost lost on him entirely. God, they had nice bodies. Even better then those groupies who'd once all but thrown themselves on him backstage. That had been a good night. This one shaping up to be just about the same. Damon assuring him he enjoyed them when he was hungry- or when he just wanted fun. The elder vampire whistling for another girl, stating Arlo enjoyed brunettes didn't he?
"Uh-huh."
He muttered almost distractedly and somewhere through his own awe at this situation, Arlo far too taken with watching the woman before him. At least until Candy came over. Arlo's head snapping towards her almost instantly if only because he could smell her. Another vampire. Those human women became almost instantly obsolete, his gaze rapidly darkening before he seemed to grasp at those threads of control again. The younger vampire wholly oblivious to the idea this was a veritable set up by his newfound companion. That hunger tugging at him again with renewed force as she offered her name. Her words almost a purr as she shimmied her way into his lap. Damn. That momentary hesitation, perhaps, giving away that part of himself that was almost still boyish in nature. He was hardly a virgin by any stretch off the imagination. Hell, some of the things he'd done would make any woman blush and yet strippers were new, women being so forward was new to him, that battle to keep his hunger back readily beginning to take most off his control. Didn't Damon know this was another vampire? Wasn't he going to get in trouble he if knocked Candy out? Damon didn't even seem worried! Maybe he shouldn't be either. He'd seen that 'have fun' look Damon had given him before. Was he really allowed?
Damon's subtle and yet formidable efforts to remove that other man were all but unnoticed. Arlo glancing briefly towards that sound of the other man cutting his hand and yet human blood held no real pull for him. Arlo utterly ignoring it. The younger vampire daring to rest a hand on Candy's waist- the girl readily seeming to encourage him. God, he was going to need a really cold shower after this. His tongue slipping from his lips, brushing over them in hunger again. He could smell her. He could smell her blood. Those desires rapidly beginning to blend into one. Arlo vaguely aware of Damon talking to Honey before the woman gasped softly, Damon's fangs piercing into the flesh of her neck. That, it seemed was all the encouragement Arlo needed. The younger vampire utterly incapable of watching an elder one vampire feed without responding, what was left of that control snapping.
One arm moved instantly to wrap about Candy's waist, that brief moment of panic flashing onto her features as Arlo's own head turned to the side, his reflexes faster than her own, teeth sinking into the wrist of the arm that had been resting seductively on his shoulder. That cry she had been about to release was lost in that moan, the venom spreading through her system like wildfire, seizing control of her in a matter of seconds as her body slumped against his own. All fight utterly going from within her as she rested her head on his shoulder, her lips painted with that sweet smile of utter peace. She was awake, if only barely and yet her body was too sluggish to respond, her own powers out of her reach, his venom so having a way of assuring his victims all was right in the world. He released his hold on her wrist, that bite designed purely to render her the way he wanted before he tilted her head without any resistance on her part to sink his fangs into that vein on her neck and yield far more of a meal. God that taste! A sigh of satisfaction falling from her lips then, that girl lingering upon the very precipice of sleep, her body fighting to stay away as she murmured about how good that felt. Arlo a last lifting his lips away from her neck, tongue wiping over those wounds to stop them bleeding. The man seeming to become aware of just where he was once more and Damon rubbing blood into those wounds on Honey?
"Why are you-?"
Those words were abruptly cut off, a soft gasp coming from somewhere to the left, his blue eyes jerking to the side to see another young woman, another vampire and so evidently Candy's companion. Her eyes narrowed slightly at the sight of her barely conscious and rather high friend. What did you do? She really didn't sound all that happy and yet Arlo hadn't quite finished with Candy yet, the younger vampire licking the blood from his lips. That slight note of aggression prickled within him now like any predator defending its meal. That soft sound of irritation rolled somewhere within his throat at being interrupted, the other vampire woman stepping towards them as Arlo abruptly disappeared. Candy had no sooner slumped onto that table then Arlo reappeared behind the second vampire, his teeth lancing into her neck in the same instant, her body crumpling with barely a struggle. Arlo evaporating again. Only to reappear within his seat, the second vampire unconscious within his arms now. The man evidently capable of not only that teleportation but of taking others with him. That unconscious woman was placed in the seat beside him, her head resting on his shoulder as if whispering something to him as he tugged Candy back into his arms. The girl asking weakly to bitten again, her words slurred horribly, her body too weak to move and yet his venom was wholly....addictive to his own kind. Arlo biting into the other side off her neck now to feed again. Damon utterly forgotten for those few moments. Arlo still so....young. blood having a habit of taking over every thought until that hunger was sated. Arlo finally glancing up. The man only now seeming to realise he had felled not one but two vampires in the space of a few minutes. A tiny part of the boy watching Damon with a slight wariness still as if some predatory part of him feared the man might try to steal either off his meals. Vampires always were possessive. The rest of him merely looking momentarily....guilty.
"Neither of them are dead I promise."
Damon wasn't mad, right?
