The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It seemed Arlo had only had a bad outlook on covens thusfar in his life and it was almost tragic that other covens hadn't seen the benefits of allying themselves with a natural weapon. Sure, vampires were survivors and most of them probably only saw him as a threat to their very existence so they tried to save themselves by killing him but he could see for himself how far that got them. Arlo was still here, anyway. But who was the idiot who never thought of what an advantage it would be to have a crusnik on their side? Sure, vampires had enemies in the other races but vampires were pitted against each other as well more times than any could imagine. He'd spent most of his first 100 years not just running from the idea of humans hunting them but of other vampires wanting him dead for one thing or another. None could be trusted and who better to have on your side than a vampire who fed on other vampires? It was poetic in a way. Maybe he wouldn't convince him to join the coven tonight, but he could make a big step in gaining the younger vampire's trust so that in time, maybe he could extend that offer to him and not have him look at him the way he just did when he brought up the C word. Arlo told him that he wasn't all that against the idea anymore but that covens didn't want him and that there weren't much of his kid left. Damon scowled. That was tragic really. Such a waste. "Who says you have to feed on the members? There are always hierarchy to every group, vampires included, which means there are always those just kept around for the information they can gather or some other little advantage that hardly gives them respect in the coven. Who wouldn't like to give them a use of some sort? See, I've seen a lot and I see the value in someone like you. I know I'd much rather have you as an ally than an enemy. It's a shame others can't think like that too." He knew Isolt would want to be open minded and offer Arlo sanctuary. She was always protective and willing to see the good in others like that. She'd probably mother hen the crap out of Arlo. If she approved then the others would have to fall in line. He was sure he could convince them of the strength of having a crusnik on their side. He could see that it did some good to tell Arlo about Katherine and Stefan. It showed the other vampire that he wasn't always so accepting of his fate in this life either, but over time he'd learned to embrace it in order to survive. By his standards, surviving just to torment the hell out of Stefan was better than being dead now. He loved leaving messes for his baby brother to clean up and he loved swooping in just when Stefan felt at his happiest to ruin his life and turn his world upside down. How many human girlfriends had Damon either turned or killed by this time? He couldn't even keep count. And yet every time Stefan threatened to kill him, he knew his brother couldn't do it. He was just too weak and even to this day, he couldn't imagine eternity without his brother. It was pathetic really. Damon knew he probably should have killed Katherine too when he had the chance all those years ago. She tried to come back into their lives and pit them against each other. She admitted that she'd only ever wanted Stefan, that having Damon turn too was just a plus. She thought she would have two vampire guard dogs following her every move, but Damon was above her manipulation now. He hated her with a passion, but still couldn't bring himself to kill her when he had the chance. Maybe that was the weakness in him. He listened carefully as Arlo explained that he was just built to drink vampire blood, not human blood. It was all too foreign to Damon but he was keeping an open mind. He was intrigued more than anything and though he'd already seen Arlo drink from Lucas, he wanted to see it again. When he asked about Arlo's maker, he could sense the instant tension in the other's face. Something about it brought him pain, so Damon could only guess that his maker was dead and that they'd had some sort of bond before that. Arlo confirmed that his maker was a crusnik too and he said that he thought that was how it happened. From the stories he'd heard, it seemed to make sense. Which means there was a first crusnik, and that would be an interesting tale. He had to do some more research, it would seem. Then Arlo said suddenly that he was old and he had a question for him. Damon snorted and raised a brow at him expectantly. When the question came though, he shook his head. "Not at all unusual. It doesn't happen every time. I think every situation is different. I inherited my persuasion power from my maker. Katherine was quite the sly little fox and she could persuade both humans and other supernaturals alike of pretty much anything and she would wipe their memories when it suited her. That was my first power." He didn't mind sharing that with Arlo. Maybe it would remind him to watch himself if he ever thought to cross Damon. For right now though, Arlo seemed pretty relaxed with him. He even joked with him about Lucas, that he went to sleep because he was weak whereas stronger vampires get high and happy. Damon nodded, sorting the information away for later. "So asleep or drugged oblivion. Duly noted." They finally made it to the club and he could sense Arlo's growing excitement as they got closer to the doors. Seems he was still a young man in every aspect of the word despite his abilities. Damon could use that. When the bouncer stepped forward, he saw Arlo was about ready to plead his own case but it was always easier for him just to use his power to get them in then the man's memory would be wiped later that they were ever there. At Arlo's question, he shrugged as they were led to a table. "Just about. On humans, it's easy as cake cause their minds are too weak.In supernaturals, it gets a little hairy cause if they're powerful enough, they can fight it." He wasn't going to mention that he'd already used it on Arlo cause he didn't want to drag that back up. Arlo was much happier when he wasn't thinking about fighting his own hunger. He could sense a different kind of hunger from Arlo now as they ventured further into the club. Girls were already blowing them kisses from the stage and moving in their direction just because of the table they were sitting at. He grinned at Arlo even as two girls climbed on their table and started dancing just for them. "A little bit of both, you could say. When I'm hungry, I eat. Otherwise, I like to have fun anytime." He glanced at the girl closest to him even as he talked about being hungry and she purred at him and moved closer, practically dancing in his lap by this point. Good thing he didn't find attraction in many humans now a days. He only thought of Isolt in that respect, but it didn't mean he couldn't play the part. He raised a brow at Arlo as if to say "enjoy yourself" and then whistled at another girl giving another guy a lap dance. "My friend has a thing for brunettes, don't you?" He said to Arlo teasingly even as the girl straightened up and moved toward them. He wondered if Arlo could sense the still heart in her chest as she moved closer. Damon knew the minute they walked in that she was a vampire. He knew this cub hired a handful or so because they didn't know what they were. All they knew were the girls were always hot and they moved in ways the men couldn't resist. The girl moved toward them with a smile, though her gaze lingered on Damon. She could sense that he was older than her and he could see that she was wary. He smiled at her. "What's your name, sweetie? This is Arlo and I'm Damon." He could feel her fears calming as he spoke to her. He was only using a little of his power, since he didn't want to diminish what Arlo could do with his. He wanted to see this in action, after all. She finally smiled at him sweetly, then at Arlo. She looked him over and licked her lips. Obviously she was attracted to the young innocent look. Good for Arlo, he supposed. "I'm Candy. Want a taste? I'm sweet as they come." She purred even as she moved to sit on Arlo's lap. Damon grinned at him. She would never know that they were thinking of two very different tastes. Meanwhile, the guy she had been dancing on was glaring in their direction so Damon looked his way intently and watched as the man suddenly gasped and complained about the sharp edge on his drink that must have cut him. He was suddenly bleeding profusely from his wrist. How tragic. Damon smirked in satisfaction as the man wrapped his arm and left the club with his buddies. That was one mishap stopped early. Damon could tell he was going to cause a scene about them calling Candy away eventually so he just decided to nip it in the butt. Now he glanced back to Arlo as Candy started dancing and squriming. She was rather good at what she did. Damon's own girl was doing some dancing of her own. It did nothing for him, but she didn't need to know that. She beamed at him, her blonde hair framing her face like an angel with too much makeup. "I'm Honey. So, do you like your blondes?" He chuckled. "Well, that depends. Do they really have more fun?" He whispered in her ear and she giggled, already charmed. "I can show you just how much fun in a more private area." She teased. He lenaed in close to her neck this time. "Oh, I think you can show me just enough from right here." Then he sunk his teeth into her neck. She gasped and moaned and he held her close, looking every bit like he was embracing a lover while things got passionate. He knew at the VIP table, they wouldn't be bothered by bouncers. They could pretty much get away with murder. But he had promised Arlo no one would get killed, so he only took a little before he licked the wound and met the girl's gaze, wiping her memory. She continued to dance on him even as he pricked his own thumb and caressed his blood across her wound. It started to heal and he glanced over at Arlo, wanting to make sure he was having fun too. |
