South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Ashton watched as Malia ran towards him, finding that he couldn't help the soft smile that spread across his lips, from ear to ear. Ever since the morning he had dropped her off at his home, he'd been anticipating this surfing lesson. From the moment the letter was left in the mail, Ashton had been eagerly awaiting this very moment. Malia was fun to be around and she didn't care that he was a little different. She liked that he went against the grain and that made him happy. It seemed like someone finally understood him.

He chuckled lightly as she asked if she was late, shaking his head lightly. "No, you're right on time." He pushed himself off the wall before turning and grabbing the bag of water and snacks in one hand and holding the board with his other. Once the board was situated beneath his arm, he looked over at her. "Come on. Are you ready?" He waited for her answer before he began to walk towards the beach.

Once they were closer to the water, he picked out am empty umbrella with two chairs settled beneath them. He placed his bag on one and set his board upright in the sand. Pulling out his towel, he draped it over the chair, making sure to lean the bag on it so it wouldn't fly away. "First thing's first. Can you swim?" He supposed he should have asked that before he offered to teach her to surf. If she didn't know how to swim, that had to be step one...and it probably should be done in a pool. He hoped she could at least keep her head above water.

While he waited, he kicked off his flip flops and placed them under the chair. Then, he gripped the hem of his muscle shirt and pulled it over his head, revealing his well-muscled chest and abdomen. Ashton had always enjoyed working out and his body showed that. Tossing the shirt he looked back to Malia. "Ready?" He hoped she was ready.
