The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

At least he seemed to be enjoying himself, chuckling at all her failed attempts to make her legs work the right way. What was up with these skates? How was he making it look so easy? She couldn't help but ask how long before she would get how to use them too. She had to have a goal, something to keep in mind every time she practiced this. Cause she was definitely going to be doing that. There's no way she would take a set back like this lying down. She needed to be prepared for any obstacle, no matter what, including skates on an uneven surface. She might never be asked to fight like this but you never know. She snorted. "Guess I'll have to mkae it as short as possible. Can't keep embarrassing myself like this." She murmured the last part, glancing around as if everyone was staring and laughing at her or something. She hated feeling inferior about anything. It was bad enough trying to fit into the human word without adding stuff like shoes with wheels into the package. He made it seem soooo easy. His feet did exactly what he wanted them to do. He laughed at her question about how to stay relaxed. To defend yourself, you have to be tense, ready. So how could she relax when she felt like she was in grave danger with every little unsure step? She honed in on him as he spoke, listening to his words and trying to put them into practice. Taking a deep breath, she nodded and looked down, focusing on her feet. She slid one foot forward then the next, visualizing herself skating just as gracefully as he was. She wobbled still but it was getting lesser. Hey, maybe she was getting the hang of this! She moved one foot again then the other, again and again. Finally she glanced up at Ashton and grinned. "I think I'm getting it. Thanks for showing me this, Ashton." She said the last part softly, wanting him to know she meant it. She thought she was just starting to get the hang of it when Ashton added in a new challenge, only giving her one hand. She'd almost forgotten that she was holding his hands to begin with but when she suddenly lost one, she felt the loss of it like the loss of her own limb. She felt unbalanced, off kilter. It was like starting over from square one. She wanted to ask why he did this to her but she knew she needed to learn how to do this on her own. She exhaled long and slow, trying to get herself to relax again. Then he asked about going to the wood floor. She glanced over to where the other skaters were skating, all looking just as confident as Ashton as they glided around at all different speeds. A few looked lost and wobbly, using the rail or the wall for balance as they hobbled along but she scowled at them. No, she REFUSED to be that lost and pathetic. She was a proud WereCoyote and she would not stoop to that level. She watched as Ashton moved to the door that led onto the wood floor. She nibbled on her bottom lip, taking another deep breath before following at her own pace. His words of reassurance coaxed a smile to her face. "I hope not. That would kind of make you sucky back up." She smirked. Then he said she could use the wall as a safety back up and she shook her head with a scowl. "Heck to the no. I don't want to look like them." She nudged her head toward the skaters clutching wildly to the wall. Then he skated ahead, going backwards. She rolled her eyes. "Show off." She muttered before slowly extending her leg onto the floor. It immediately started to roll away and she gulped. She glanced at Ashton, about to tell him she couldn't do it but she bit down on the words. No, she wouldn't give up. She couldn't. Her eyes narrowed in determination and she let out another long breath before she took another step out onto the floor. She held out her arms for balance, closing her eyes to center herself before she opened them and focused on Ashton. For a moment, she just watched him. He moved like he was flying, gliding across the floor so naturally. She was mesmerized, before she suddenly realized she was staring. Looking away she nibbled on her lip before remembering what she was doing. She took one step then another. When her feet started sliding forward, she tried to remind herself not to panic, but ultimately, she started paniking anyway. Her feet kept sliding and she started trying to correct them by moving one foot then the other, but way too fast. Too soon, her body ended up leaning forward and then she fully lost her balance. With a gasp, she headed for the floor, sure that she was about to face plant in front of all these people. That would be a story Frost would never let her live down. |
