East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

There was no denying that there was a stark difference between the two women within his life. The pair were more akin to night and day and Alexander had, thus far, been content to walk that boundary between them. He disliked, truly, the clear dissonance between the two women and yet, Alexander expected Anastasia herself was likely the origin of it. She was a fickle, possessive woman when it suited her to be and Alexis was hardly was worldly and refined as she had gotten used to accompanying. That soft sigh upon his lips hardly seemed to go unnoticed, even despite the clear roll of Alexis' eyes. Alexander freely admitted that Anastasia and himself had lived separate lives of late. She was hell bent upon recovering that trinket of her past while Alexander fluttered from whim to whim in infinite boredom of what the world now had to offer him. The soft touch of Alexis' fingers upon his arm hardly served to comfort the man quite to the level that he was assured Alexis wanted, the simper upon his features all but weak and yet, he was willing to simply let the topic pass altogether as the waitress approached their table.

His blue-green gaze shifted towards the table and the mouthwatering lamb placed before them. The dishes were exactly of the quality Alexander had anticipated from the Warlock he had once saved, all those years ago. The Dark Hunter reached for his fork, hardly expecting that conversation of his daughter to continue. Alexis' desire to know of her interests prompted a rather vague explanation of the Russian Duchess, ones he knew would interest Alexis particularly little. After all, Alexander himself hardly held a candle of interest in the shopping malls and trinkets Anastasia tended to relish. Their shared enjoyment of Russian teahouses the extent of all the two had in common during Anastasia's youth. He watched as Alexis made some effort to provide him a sweet simper, the girl apparently undaunted by the legions that existed between the two women. Alexander's eyebrow rose ever so slightly before the Dark Hunter sighed ever so softly. "I'll talk to her." He promised, certain that it would require his own intervention to soften his daughter's demeanor.

In the aftermath of that conversation, Alexander was far more content to turn his attention to the rack of lamb in front of him. The silence almost comfortable than the uncomfortable topic they had only just waded through. He took a bite of the meat, savoring the softness of it near melting in his mouth. His blue-green eyes shifted only at the young woman's sudden inquiry. It had, admittedly, been years since Alexander had thought of his own siblings, his eyebrows furrowed but briefly before his head bobbed slightly. "I had a sister, a half-brother, and three half-sisters." Alexander uttered, purposefully leaving out that one of those half-sisters had been murdered by his own mother, his brother-in-law killed by Alexander himself. Those age-old melodramas had long since been lost to time, the wounds of those ancient days all mended. "Did you?" Alexander inquired, his own attention turning away from those days of yore. Alexis had never spoken much of her own youth, tonight was as much about learning of her as it was of him.
