The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
That query as to just what he would do with money saw both those striking blue eyes lift upward. What would he do with money?! Was this guy serious? Did Damon have that much that he needed to find things to do with it? Then again judging from the look of his car and his clothes that was probably true. Arlo managing to stare in disbelief a few moments longer as he trailed after his newfound companion. The younger vampire oblivious to that touch of the elder's magic and that compulsive desire to follow along that had been so unwillingly pushed into his mind. Really, he couldn't remember why he hadn't liked that guy all that much to begin with. He seemed alright. Mostly. Arlo's shoulders at last lifting into a shrug off sorts, that sarcasm touching his words now as if his reply should have been blatantly obvious.
"Oh I don't know, pay rent? Buy a second chair for my apartment? Maybe new shoes if I'm feeling really wild."
A blood cocktail, appealing though that sounded, was largely a trivial expense to his mind. Not when he could have had rent on time for once in his life or maybe even those new shoes. Arlo paused briefly to glance down at his well-worn sneakers, several places upon them hanging together by the barest remains of fabric and leather. It was a shame really, he had liked those shoes and yet wet feet was not nearly as pleasant. At least it wasn't raining tonight. Maybe he should have stolen that Lukas fellows shoes as well. He put the thought out of his mind for now, his attention far more taken with that car, the black beast practically purring to life beneath that touch of Damon's power. Arlo inclined to admit that, maybe, the guy was more powerful than he had let on, something within him shifting with unease and yet he pushed it aside all the same. That command to behave seeming to remove that stubborn that might otherwise of best him now. Arlo choosing instead to compliment that car as he slid into the passenger seat and onto that leather interior. This was nicer than anything he'd ever owned. Damon grinning at him then, his own lip quirking slightly in response to those words as his eyes rolled almost playfully. His words light all the same.
"Sure bud, whatever you say."
Embrace what he was? He'd ended up with nothing because of what he was. Nothing. When he could have had everything. A home, a life, a career- a family. Those dejecting thoughts were pushed hurriedly from his mind, Arlo rarely inclined to consider them if only for the way they tended to gnaw at him. The vampire instead doing as he did best, shoving those emotions aside, pretending as if nothing bothered him at all. He was good at that. If nothing else. At pretending the world didn't bother him in the slightest. The truth of it far harsher then he was willing to admit to even himself. His gaze drifted then from that plush leather interior to Damon then, the man's less then pleasant attitude perhaps the most striking part of his persona so far. The idea that a guy like this had a girl like that hardly lost on the younger man. Damon was....alright looking, he supposed, for a guy. Chances were women probably found him attractive, plus he was rich- maybe that was how he got the girl. Either that or he was some sort of mob boss. Arlo unwilling to put that past him either and yet the man never had been afraid to simply speak what was on his mind, asking after just what Damon did exactly only to be rewarded with an almost cryptic answer. Well- at least he wasn't in the mafia. The idea that he was used to getting what he wanted however merely saw Arlo nod. God he was going to get himself killed tonight. He could see it now. That idea of death prompting that final question from him. Surely Damon wasn't about to help kill someone for him was he? Arlo's stomach turning at even the idea, the man relieved to hear Damon had little intention of it. Those sudden questions seeing his features frown again, one hand lifting to run through the dark off his hair as he lent back in that passenger seat. Damon cruising effortlessly along those streets as Arlo merely looked uncomfortable.
"I mean- I have some idea. If I ever bite a human though I just take enough to take the edge off the hunger, a few mouthfuls- that's it. I've felt a heart slow before and I figure that's always a good place to stop. That sort of thing doesn't matter with vampire victims. Bud, where are we going? I've never been to this part of town."
