East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

He seemed so surprised that she could smell him in the confines of the club. He must have been counting on all the other bodies and odors to mask his own. He said it wasn't something he liked to advertise and she nodded. She still remembered the feel of that arrow in her leg the night the Hunters tried to take her captive. She shifted her weight as if feeling it again. "For good reason. Don't worry, your secret is safe with me." She offered an innocent smile. She didn't know what he'd gone through or how his family felt about others knowing about them. She wondered if he would ever tell her. She told him he was probably dangerous no matter what he was but noticed he was overall silent on correcting her. So he wanted to be Mr. Mysterious huh? What was up with her and finding the brooding secretive types? It's like she attracted them or something. He led her to the skating rink and she was instantly irritated at how little control she felt with the skates on her feet. Why wouldn't they just listen to her?!

He only seemed amused though. He told her it wasn't natural, but it was fun once you got used to it. She scowled. "And how long does that take?" She was always competitive when it came to learning something new. She practiced nonstop on something until she perfected it. That was her way. She did it when she first learned to shift and then when Frost started teaching her how to fight as a human. She was getting pretty powerful with her punches and kicks now. She finally tried to stand and was grateful she had Ashton's hand to hold to help steady herself. He laughed at her as she tried to make her feet stand still. He said she'd get used to it and that he'd show her. He said he wouldn't let her fall and she took the extended arm, though she hated all the wobbling she was doing. She put her hands in his, gritting her teeth as she tried to concentrate on what her feet were doing. He was skating backwards in no time and she gasped, looking down to watch his feet, mesmerized. How the heck was he doing that?

He made it look so...natural. He told her not to be tense or it would be harder and she scowled even harder. "How the heck am I supposed to get my feet under control if I'm not tense?" She looked back down and tried to focus. Her tongue went through her teeth as she tried to concentrate, finally amanging to get her feet to cooperate...well, mostly. She looked up, flashing Ashton a triumphant smile but that's when he chose to let go of one of her hands. Her eyes went wide and she started paddling in the air with her free arm. "Hey, warn me next time!" She took a deep breath, trying to keep herself upright and after almost face planting twice, she managed to calm herself enough to focus back on controlling her feet. Ashton was good and patient, only letting go of her other hand when he was sure she was ready this time. She bit into her bottom lip and nodded, gasping as he let go and she was left to hold herself upright. She almost fell once this time but managed to right herself all by herself. She giggled victoriously.

"Hey, look, Ashton, I'm doing it!" But then he pointed out that the carpet was easy and they should go to the wood floor next. She scowled. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trying to get me killed." She crossed her arms, but her eyes glittered teasingly.
