A warm simper crossed Alexander's lips as Alexis announced their date a 'good start'. Surely, it must mean she was enjoying herself, no? After all, Alexander remembered well that this was the
first time any man had taken her to a restaurant with the clear intentions of wooing her. It was only after the small clink of their glasses that Alexander brought the glass to his lips, sipping on the contents with the very clear consideration of the taste on his tongue. Tonight, however, was hardly just about the lamb or the wine. Quite on the contrary, tonight was about
Alexis. It was about getting to know
them. Their relationship, albeit nice, was rather shallow - focused solely upon the simple enjoyment of each other's company and the sensations of their skin against each other in the comfort of his bedroom sheets. It was this very effort that coaxed the man to begin some sort of conversation with the girl, even if he was revealing his own metaphorical cards and the close watch he kept on her from the shadows of his own organization. He took the smirk upon her sweetheart lips to mean the woman accepted his surveillance of sorts, rather than take any great insult to it.
His own features twitched ever so slightly before a small shrug crossed his shoulders. "I wanted to be sure you didn't end up on a hunter's list," Alexander responded, clarifying just why he had kept such diligent watch over Alexis, the same way Matteo watched over Tetradore and Azrael watched over his own little witch. They kept their indiscretions in the shadows for as long as they could. Alexander watched as Alexis leaned back in her seat, hardly hesitating before continuing in further detail in an effort to both answer his inquiry and provide him a little light on the life she led when not with him. His head bobbed ever so slightly, listening as Alexis spoke of her best friend, a woman he knew by name alone, and Matteo's own 'son' of sorts. It was, at least, good to know that the boy was considered kind-hearted by his own subordinates, what with all Alexander knew of his own past. "I'm glad you found a place to belong, Alexis." He commented and yet, that small simper on his features was genuine, nonetheless. Weres, after all
needed that pack bond and though a part of him was displeased Frost had failed Alexis, he was glad to see she found her way to someplace he still deemed relatively safe for her.
The sudden clearing of her throat, however, cause his eyebrow to raise as the girl inquired of his own daughter. The very care she took to arrange her own facial features hardly went unnoticed by the Dark Hunter. Softly he inhaled, only for a gentle sigh to leave his lips. "I know you two did not get along well." He uttered simply, as if allowing her to dismiss all pretenses of neutrality. His elbow rested on the table as the age-old man let his palm rest in his hand, the look on his face almost had a subtle twinge of a pout, even if such was hardly becoming of an archaic King. "She and I tend to live separate lives these days." He paused, his gaze briefly shifted elsewhere before the Dark Hunter continued, considering his own words carefully too now that he judged his own girlfriend to not be too great of a fan of the woman. "I believe she is still hunting down some closure for her own past." Alexander's head shook ever so slightly before he waved off the line of conversation. After all, why bother discuss a topic when they both clearly held such opposing feelings of the same woman. Alexander was hardly unaware of how abrasive Anastasia could be...and yet she was still his all the same. Frankly, Alexander was almost glad to see their waitress headed back towards them balancing a tray of what he could tell was lamb, perhaps food was a good distraction.
