He could smell other weres, no problem. However, he had hoped that by visiting a crowded nightclub, his scent might be masked from others. Apparently, his idea did not work as well as he might have hoped. As long as there weren't others around here trying to intentionally hunt weres down, he supposed he could just suck it up and not worry about it. "It's just not something I advertise to others." Growing up where he had, weres were not exactly respected or praised. He had grown up in a conservative, religious town where anything out of the ordinary or misunderstood usually resulted in scrutiny. Ashton had worked hard to maintain good standing within the community. That meant keeping his family's history relatively secret. He wasn't used to a place that celebrated his oddity.
However, even though this place was more accepting to weres, he wasn't quite ready to disclose just what type his was. He ignored her banter about being a teacup, knowing that he was far larger than that. He supposed he could be seen as big and dangerous and even aggressive. But in reality, he was just someone who enjoyed laying on the couch all day and sleeping. Now that was the life.
He led her to the skating rink and made sure that they both had the right size skates. He watched her explore them, clearly not sure if skating was the best idea for them to do tonight. Her question had him chuckling. "Natural? Probably not. But once you get the hang of it, it's really fun!" He loved to skate and he hoped that she might learn to love it to.
Once her skates were on, he extended his hand to her to help her to stand up with them. As he assumed, she was having trouble maintaining her balance on shoes that moved. She was gripping the bench and he had to hold back a laugh. "You'll get used to it. Come on, let me show you." He extended his arm for her to take. "I won't let you fall." He held out both hands for her to take. He began to skate backwards, effectively pulling her along with him. His feet moved fluidly, one sliding in time with the other. "Don't be tense or you'll make it harder." He continued to move along the carpet until she began to get the hang of it.
Once she was able to confidently move with her hands in his, he slowly released one hand. She would have one hand to help hold her steady but now that he had let go of one hand, she would have to do more of the work. And soon, he had released both her hands but remained close. "This carpet is easy to skate on...are you ready to try the wood floor?" If she thought this was difficult, she had no idea what was about to come.
