The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

She didn't mind telling him that she wasn't always able to shift into her human form. She knew she still missed a lot of human phrases and stuff that was said because this world was still so new to her, even if she would keep trying to understand it. When she asked which form he liked to run in, he asked if it was that obvious he wasn't always human and she smirked. "It's in your scent, silly." She wondered how he didn't think that a Were could sniff out another Were. You're not supposed to smell animals when you're around humans, well, unless they have pets or something. But there was something distinctly "other" in the smell of another Were. She had learned that pretty quickly. Sure, it was dangerous to let on sometimes, especially if you were around Hunters, but she didn't sense any in the immediate area and she knew she could trust Ashton. Or at least he hadn't done anything yet to prove otherwise. He told her that he liked to run in both forms and she tilted her head. She hadn't really ran a lot in her human form, now that she thought about it. It was just too easy most of the time to shift when she was in an open space made for running. He said something about track team and she furrowed her brows. "So that means you have to run a lot?" She'd never heard of it before. He said there was nothing dangerous about him and she smirked. "You a teacup or something when you shift? Of course you're dangerous. Even a kitten is dangerous in the right situation. You just haven't had to be yet." Her eyes glittered at him daringly. She was all the more curious of what kind of Were he was now. She followed him to the skating rink and when he asked about her shoe size, she took off her heel and pointed to the number. He asked if she could read and she shook her head with a frown. She hated feeling inferior about anything. But she saw no judgement in his eyes and it made her relax a little. He said Nadya was right and she smiled, feeling a little better. She scowled curiously at the skates the man handed Ashton then she followed him to a bench and took the skates from him, using her finger to tap the wheels and make them spin. "This sounds very unsteady. Are you sure this is natural?" At his question, she shook her head. "No, never even heard of it. Who thought to put wheels on skates? I think the cars are dangerous enough." She didn't even think about the fact that she was in a dress and about to do an activity that one probably shouldn't in a dress. If it came down to it, she wouldn't hesitate to rip the dress and make it easier to move in. Function over fashion, after all. She watched Ashton put his skates on, studying the way he laced the laces and stood up on the wheels. It just looked so...unnatural. He came over to help her so she tried her best, slipping them over her feet. They were heavier than regular shoes but she knew that was because of the wheels. At least that should keep her anchored to the ground, right? At least that's what she told herself. Then she laced them like she did her shoes and slowly tried to stand, using the bench for balance. She didn't want to let go of it. Oh boy, she was so gonna fall. She grimaced at Ashton. "How does one balance on wheels? At least cars don't move unless you tell them to. These things have a mind of their own!" She didn't get it at all. Her feet kept sliding even when she commanded them to stay still. He thought this was fun?! |
