East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

He didn't seem surprised at all that she told him his manners might get lost. The world was definitely different than most of the older movies she watched where men held the doors for women and stood up when they left the room. Now men groped on women and waited for them down dark alleys, hoping for some quick cash and maybe a good beat down or something else. Not to say that women were innocent. No, she'd seen just as many women with dark probing eyes, using their bodies to get what they want or even teasing at something before just taking what they want. Sometimes men were the victims. She understood that but it didn't make any of it right. She was worried that Ashton's mild manner might leave him a victim for such women. Good thing she wasn't planning on leaving him unsupervised. He said it wasn't the first and wouldn't be the last and she nodded, glad that he at least understood he was part of a dying breed.

He didn't say anything about her handshake so she had to surmise that she did it right. He said it was a pleasure to meet her and she laughed. "You might not say that later. I tend to be too much for most people to handle." She smirked, thinking of how she overwhelmed people like Miyako and Abigail. If not for Frost's extreme patience, she was sure he would have gotten tired of her a long time ago too. She found it odd that he chose to call her by her last name. "Oh boy, Miss Tate makes me feel like a teacher or something. Maybe if I get a few more beers in you, you'll start calling me Malia like everyone else." She smirked. She meant it in a teasing way and didn't want him to feel that she was making fun of his politeness or anything but she wasn't sure she could ever get used to being called by her last name. She had barely gotten used to having her name said out loud at all, since coyotes don't talk except in growls and barks and the only reason she knew her name was cause of a teddy bear she used to carry around with her as a pup that said that name on it in permanent marker.

A relic from her forgotten past? Probably so. It was the only thing she had left of a life before the pack of coyotes. She asked him why he continued to drink the beer. She could see the amusement in his eyes, like he was humoring her. Then he called her ma'am and she quirked a brow. Nope, didn't think she could ever get used to that either. He said something about being poor and using the cheapest form of alcohol. She smirked. "Hell, I didn't even know what money was a few months ago. I still don't have a dime to my name, but my pack gives me what I need." She shrugged. Frost and Nadya kept her stocked up in clothes and food at the house plus she still went hunting in her Were form when she got the itch. She had everything she'd ever need. Most of the time, drinks came free from whoever she was out with at the time. It just always seemed to work out that way. He said his father drank beer and she perked up. She didn't know her parents so him bringing up his own just reminded her that other Were's were raised differently than her.

"Are you and your father close?" She didn't know why she asked, not really. It was only going to pour salt in the wound that she didn't even know her own parents' names. But she did want to know about him, right? She took his hand when he offered and led him out onto the dance floor. They managed to find a spot that was somewhat empty but she knew it'd only be a matter of time before other bodies were pressing closer and closer. Still, she pressed herself to him, using him as an anchor, his touch like a comfort that kept her grounded as she let herself go to the music. At first, he didn't seem to be moving a lot but she racked that up to confidence. He said this wasn't the music he was used to dancing to. She just had to teach him to let go. She caught his eye as she danced and he asked her if she danced often. She smirked, leaning forward to whisper in his ear since it was pretty much the only way he'd heard her in this crowd anyway.

"Besides hunting, it's about my only release in this strange world I find myself in. Once I found out about it, you could say it became an addiction of sorts. Do you have those? Ways to let off steam?" She searched his gaze, wondering what he would say. She let him move her hands to his shoulders before he panted one hand on her hip and the other on the small of her back. She felt tingles of electricity everywhere he touched but chalked that up to general attraction. She could tell he was trying to match her rhythm so she tried to take a page out of Frost's book and show some patience, though she really just wanted to move against him and lose herself in the music. When she turned her back to him, she felt his body tense a little and as she let her hips sway down to the floor, following the beat, she soon found out why. There was a tightness in his jeans that wasn't there before and she knew exactly what it was. She smirked in the neon lights, swaying slowy back up to his chest and turning to him, her hands moving down his shirt as she guided his hands back to her hip and back like they were before. She figured that was where he was comfortable.

Her eyes met his, one brow quirking. "I'm guessing you don't dance often, at least not like this. What do you do for fun, Ashton? Show me." She stopped dancing and held out her hand, her lips tugging, daring him to lead her somewhere else, anywhere else that made him feel comfortable.
