East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

Alexander's gaze shifted from the road to the woman at his side, that look of awe on her features accompanied by that teasing smirk on her lips prompted a warm chuckle from his own. "Alexis." He uttered softly, his eyes turning back towards the road. "I am Royal." Alexander commented, pausing only to continue, offering her that very fact he doubted even she was aware of. "Technically, you are given the title of my Consort, which awards you quite a bit of power, were we in Greece or Macedonia." He glanced towards her, the corner of his lips tilted upwards in a small, faint simper. His kingdom, after all, had long ago fallen and though Greece and Macedonia acknowledged his existence and rule to an extent, it was hardly the same level of power he had once ruled with. How things had changed - and frankly, he was not sure it was for the better.

His thoughts, however, deviated from the prospect of Alexis' lack of experience when it came to any sort of modern transportation. The very control her father once exercised over her was the exact sort of oppressive reign that Alexander was well known for dismantling. He could hardly help the scowl on his features at the mention of the man and yet, he was equally as determined to undo those years Alexis had lived under his thumb. It was that very desire that prompted his inquiry of where she might like to visit - after all, he had the funds to take her to see the very world, if she so desired it. That question of where she might like to first visit, however, seemed to prompt an overwhelmed exhale from her lips. He supposed he could see how daunting it was, to pick a place when there were so many. The very world was now her oyster, with Alexander at her side. He hadn't anticipated her sudden inquiry of his favorite place to go. For a long moment, the Macedonian King was silent, considering all of the places he'd visited and all the things he'd seen over those countless years. It took him a moment before the truth fell softly from his lips. "Home." No matter where he was, or how many years passed. Greece was always where his heart belonged. He paused, only to add in an afterthought, "I think you might enjoy Croatia, though."

The conversation slowly shifted to his own job, that new role of Commander was hardly foreign to him in the slightest and yet, it was always stressful stepping into such a position with a foreign army. He tended to prefer one he built himself and yet, it was not always possible. His admittance of such thoughts, however, seemed to prompt a soft simper from Alexis, the young woman's voice drew his attention away from his inner thoughts. A soft chuckle left his lips before he gingerly reached for her hand, his lips brushing sweetly against the back of it. "I know you're right." He responded simply, appreciative of her clear desire to console him. It was just about then that the trees opened up to a near picturesque view of the lake, the sun just beginning to set upon the horizon. A small simper crossed his features at her amazement. This date clearly wasn't going so bad after all. Alexander pulled into a parking spot, shutting off the car only to move around the vehicle towards her side, opening the door for her. That glimpse of surprise only prompted a soft look within the depths of his blue-green eyes before her fingers slid into his.

He led her towards the hostess providing the woman with his name before they were ushered towards their own designated table. Alexander settled in the seat across from her, taking the menu he was offered with a simple word of thanks to the hostess. His blue-green eyes met Alexis' own at the woman's idle comment. A small grin trailed across his features, "Darling, you have no idea." The Dark Hunter retorted, clearly amused by that very trait she had so effortlessly picked up on. His gaze drifted down towards the limited menu in front of him only for his head to shake ever so slightly. "Not quite like this, no. I recognized the chef's name when I booked the reservation." Alexander commented, contemplating, for the first time, that perhaps Alexis had never had such high-end food before. The very dishes surely a new experience for the girl, as much as the whole date was. "I fear I do have a weakness for a rack of lamb though." He commented, eying the Italian menu. "Though you could never go wrong with something as easy as ravioli."
