East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

Alexander was hardly surprised that the existence of his Godson prompted such a sound of surprise within the young woman's voice. It was unlikely, for someone of Alexander's age, to have any kind of family, particularly not one nearly as old as he did. He knew well that his daughter had been bewildering enough for the poor girl. Anastasia was an elegant, demanding woman and, to be frank, he was certain that she had been a bit overwhelming for his far more demure, wild girlfriend. Even so, his head bobbed ever so slightly. "Mmhm, he's the one I went to go see get married last month." He commented as he led her towards the passenger side of the car, allowing her to get into it. It was only once he was sure she was comfortable within her seat that the Hunter closed the door for her, moving around the vehicle to join her. The engine quickly turned over with the turn of his key and soon, Alexander coaxed the sleek black vehicle into traffic and towards the outskirts of the city limits. That noise from the radio was soft in the darkness of the car cab, merely meant to be background noise than anything else. Tonight, despite all of his previous reservations, Alexander found himself attempting to be open to that conversation, one Alexis started but moments later.

He was not truly surprised to discover that Alexis had never before been abroad. She seemed like quite the sheltered girl, as far as life experiences tended to go. Still, his eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly at the notion that it was forbidden to enjoy those advances in modern travel. Why would anyone forbid someone from such a thing? Particularly within this day and age when they had existed for well over the life of many on the planet. Even Alexander for all the centuries he'd seen and all the skepticism he had, still found a kind of awe in that speed in which they were so easily able to cover those distances. "Would you like to go?" He inquired abruptly, his blue-green eyes turned towards her with every bit of sincerity within his voice. If she wished to see more of that world, he had every intention of taking her. After all, money was of little consequence to the man and he saw little reason why they could not use those very funds to show Alexis the amazement of modern society and all that had been closed off to her before now.

It was that mention of the were-horses, however, that prompted Alexander to pause in consideration. Although the truth of his own thoughts were hardly particularly flattering for the Dark Hunter, he was prone to honesty in those moments. He had, admittedly, a tendency, at times to even treat horses better than some of the humans he met. They were always a weak spot for him, regardless of whether or not they were supernatural. Those were-horses, in their equestrian form, tended to prompt far more compassion from him than the men that wore that animal skin. That treatment of them within the Dark Hunter Cavalry was something he intended to change. It was that very thought of change that prompted from his lips his own soft musing of how much resistance he would surely be met within the months coming. He hardly expected that gentle brush of her fingers against his, his blue-green eyes shifted towards the woman as she offered that small promise in an effort to reassure him.

A warm simper crossed his features. It had been so long since anyone had attempted to console him that he'd almost forgotten what that felt like. "Thank you, Alexis. At least I have you." The Dark Hunter responded, entirely sincere in that appreciation.
His own gaze fluttered back towards the road that lay ahead of them, that luxury sedan so quickly covering that distance as he drove them away from downtown. It hardly took long before those skyrises and office buildings were replaced with neighborhoods, and not longer still till it gave way to the forested areas that surrounded the city. Alexander turned off the main road, taking a smaller road away from the business of the city. It was an almost abrupt transition, the way those trees seemed to instantly stop only to reveal a rather large lake, the far side of it held several small tables, a line of cars formed a makeshift parking lot not far from that field. He slowly guided the vehicle down that makeshift road, the grass worn down from car tires as they made their way around the lake to join those other vehicles. Slowly, the car came to a gentle halt amongst the others already present, several empty tables surely telling of more that were to come. "We're here." He announced, cutting the engine off. "Ready?" Alexander inquired, glancing towards the young woman at his side.
