East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

She wondered idly what Alexander was thinking before the date. Was he regretting it already? Was he regretting even dating her, period? The doubt set in but she quickly brushed it away. She bet he was going to look nice. He after all, had a lot more experience in this type of thing. Dating, that is. Ugh, why'd she have to go there? Now she was thinking about all the other women he must have dated before her. The more sophisticated, educated, much more pretty women. Like Anastasia. She was sure he would date someone like her. She looked like just his type. Ugh, no, she needed to quit thinking that so she brushed it away too. What would he be wearing? Jeans or something nicer? What's considered nicer for a guy? She'd never really looked at their clothes that much. Hopefully her outfit was okay. Hopefully not too dressy and not underdressed. Either of those would suck. Should she have brought a change of clothes? She was driving herself crazy with second thoughts tonight.

The clock was ticking down. Only five minutes to go. She crossed her legs, trying to look more sophisticated herself. It felt so uncomfortable and made her back abnormally straight. No, that wouldn't do at all. A man walked by the cafe and his eyes lingered on her a bit too long. Was he checking her out? Or did she look suspicious? She eyed him right back and when he cracked a smile and waved, she stiffened and hurridly looked away. Geez, she would never get used to human gestures and what they meant. That's what it felt like anyway. She wondered what riding would be like. Would the horses like her? Would they feel threatened by a fox being on their back or would they just think she was a human? Do horses even think like that? She had no idea. She'd never been around horses. She'd seen movies with horses and read books with horses but never touched one in real life. Oh God, she might be sick.

She sensed him before anything else, her gaze snapping to the door of the cafe right before he walked out. She looked him up and down, her brow raised, clearly impressed. He cleaned up very nicely. But of course, she already thought he was a cool drink of water in anything...or nothing for that matter. She cleared her throat and brushed some hair behind her ear in a nervous gesture as he walked over to her table and said her name. Even that was enough to make her melt. Good thing she was already sitting or she'd be on wobbly legs right now. As he held out his hand, she smiled and reached out, pulling herself up to stand and nibbling nervously on her bottom lip. "Hey." Ugh, really? That's the best she had? Then he asked if he'd left her waiting long and told her she looked lovely. Was lovely a good compliment or was it just decent? She glanced down at herself as if to make sure she didn't look like she was dressed in a garbage bag or something by mistake before she smiled a little wider.

"Thanks. I hope it's not too much...or not enough. I've never been on a date before so I wasn't sure..." Her voice trailed off in a little voice as she looked down at their hands for lack of anywhere else she wanted to put her gaze as she admitted that. At his sudden question of whether she was excited though, she glanced up quickly, the smile becoming a grin. "Very. I've just been so nervous. I hope I don't look like a complete idiot." She reached out almost hesitantly to fix his collar where it had tried to flip back over, her eyes growing a little brighter as she looked into his. He always had a way of helping soothe her nerves. She smirked a little. "You look very nice, if I do say so myself. I'm almost jealous of the horse." She dared to raise a brow. Maybe this wouldn't be so hard after all. As long as she was with him, she'd be okay.
